Job Description

Job Title: Senior Procurement Engineer

Job Purpose:

The Senior Procurement Engineer is responsible for leading procurement activities, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely acquisition of materials and services required for steel fabrication and galvanization in center pivot irrigation system manufacturing. This role plays a crucial part in optimizing the procurement process, reducing costs, and maintaining quality standards.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Strategic Sourcing | Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies to identify cost-effective suppliers and optimize the supply chain. Conduct market research and supplier evaluations to assess capabilities and performance.
  • Supplier Management | Manage relationships with key suppliers, negotiate contracts, and oversee supplier performance to ensure adherence to quality, delivery, and cost requirements.
  • Procurement Process | Lead the procurement process from requisition to purchase order issuance, ensuring compliance with company policies, regulations, and ethical standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical specifications and sourcing requirements.
  • Cost Optimization | Identify cost-saving opportunities through value engineering, alternative sourcing, and negotiation tactics. Analyze procurement spend and implement cost reduction initiatives while maintaining product quality and supplier relationships.
  • Risk Management | Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, such as supplier defaults, material shortages, and geopolitical uncertainties. Develop contingency plans and supplier diversification strategies to minimize disruptions.
  • Supplier Development | Collaborate with suppliers to improve quality, lead time, and service levels through continuous improvement initiatives, supplier audits, and performance evaluations. |
  • Documentation and Reporting | Maintain accurate procurement records, including contracts, purchase orders, and supplier agreements. Generate reports and dashboards to track key performance metrics and procurement KPIs.

Job Requirements:

- Years of experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management roles within the manufacturing industry, with a focus on steel fabrication or related sectors.

-Preferred Experience in leading procurement teams, managing complex sourcing projects, or implementing lean procurement practices. Knowledge of international trade regulations and customs procedures.

Qualifications:

-Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.

-Preferred Master's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.

Professional Certificates:

-Professional certifications such as Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) are preferred.

-Preferred Additional certifications in contract management, negotiation skills, or supply chain analytics.

Language proficiency:

-Proficient in English (written and verbal).

Computer skills:

-Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems. Experience with procurement software and tools is advantageous.
