The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced QA Manager to lead our R&D QA function in a hands-on capacity. In this role, you will be accountable for the end-to-end quality of our solutions, ensuring that INTEREL products and services meet the highest functional, performance, and reliability standards. You will manage a growing team of Embedded QA Engineers as well as external QA resources, while actively contributing to testing frameworks and processes. Reporting directly to the CTO, you will take ownership of QA strategy, team performance, and automation effectiveness, acting as the gatekeeper for quality across our products and services.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and mentor a growing team of Embedded QA Engineers, while remaining hands-on in test design, execution, and automation development.
  • Be accountable for the end-to-end QA lifecycle, from strategy and planning to execution and release sign-off.
  • Define, implement, and continuously improve QA processes, tools, and best practices across embedded systems and IoT solutions.
  • Own the development and adoption of automation testing frameworks, ensuring consistent measurable improvements in efficiency, coverage, and reliability.
  • Oversee test planning and execution, ensuring functional, regression, performance, and stress testing are delivered on time and to specification.
  • Be accountable for reducing defect leakage into production through proactive test coverage and effective defect management.
  • Establish and monitor quality metrics (KPIs) to assess team performance and product release quality.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Product, and Operations teams to align testing with business and technical requirements.
  • Ensure QA processes meet compliance requirements, internal governance standards, and industry benchmarks.
  • Provide regular reporting to the CTO on QA deliverables, team performance, risks, and mitigation plans.
  • Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across the engineering organisation.

What You'll Need To Succeed

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Experience: 7+ years in QA/Testing roles, with at least 2 years in a management or team-lead capacity ideally in a start up environment
  • Must have: proven experience in embedded systems testing with a strong focus on automation
  • Hands-on experience in developing, implementing, and using QA automation frameworks
  • Relevant experience in applying automation to improve efficiency, coverage, and reliability
  • Demonstrated experience in embedded communication protocols
  • Demonstrated experience in cloud connected products
  • Demonstrated accountability for QA deliverables, team performance and release quality
  • Experience working in Agile/ Scrum environments with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Startup mindset, adaptable and happy to roll up their sleeves when needed
  • Basic coding skills in Python or JavaScript
  • ISTQB or equivalent QA certification is a plus
