Job Purpose:
The Senior Quantity Surveyor plays a critical role in managing cost control, valuations, variations, and commercial risk throughout the project lifecycle.
This includes developing and implementing cost management strategies, conducting regular cost reviews, and identifying opportunities for cost savings. By effectively managing costs and commercial risks, the role helps to ensure that projects are delivered within budget and to the required quality standards.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential to perform this role effectively, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
The goal is to deliver projects that meet client expectations while minimizing commercial risk and maximizing value
Key Accountabilities:
Prepare Monthly Valuations and Cost Reports:
Prepare accurate and timely monthly valuations and cost reports, highlighting progress, costs, and potential risks. This includes tracking and reporting on project costs, identifying trends and variances, and providing recommendations for cost management. By effectively preparing monthly valuations and cost reports, the role helps to ensure that stakeholders are informed and that projects are delivered within budget.
Review of Subcontractor Payments and Claims:
Review subcontractor payments and claims, ensuring that they are accurate, valid, and compliant with contractual requirements. This includes verifying the quality and quantity of work completed, evaluating claims for variations and delays, and recommending payments or dispute resolution actions. By effectively reviewing subcontractor payments and claims, the role helps to minimize commercial risk and ensure that payments are made in accordance with contractual obligations.
Manage Variations and Contractual Correspondence:
Manage variations and contractual correspondence, ensuring that changes to the project scope, timeline, or budget are properly documented and agreed upon by all stakeholders. This includes evaluating the impact of variations on project costs and timelines, negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers, and advising on contractual implications. By effectively managing variations and contractual correspondence, the role helps to minimize disputes and ensure that projects are delivered in accordance with client expectations as well as making sure of a timely submissions of all the monthly payments and all the commercial submissions.
Assist in Tendering and Procurement for Operations & Maintenance Services:
Assist in tendering and procurement for facilities management (FM) services, ensuring that tenders are properly evaluated and that contracts are awarded to the most suitable bidders. This includes developing tender documentation, evaluating tender submissions, and advising on contract terms and conditions. By effectively assisting in tendering and procurement, the role helps to ensure that Operations & Maintenance services are delivered efficiently and effectively.
Familiar with FIDIC/NEC/Khidmah Contracts:
Familiarize with FIDIC, NEC, and Khidmah contracts, including their terms, conditions, and procedures. This includes understanding the contractual obligations of clients, contractors, and subcontractors, and being able to advise on contractual matters. By being familiar with these contracts, the role helps to ensure that projects are delivered in accordance with contractual requirements and that commercial risks are minimized.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
Master's degree or higher preferred
Professional certifications, such as MRICS or FRICS, are desirable
Experience:
Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience
