Job Description

Act as Technical Authority with corporate accountability for technical delivery across Structural Hull discipline. Support Director - EPC Engineering (Hull & Marine) for strategy stewarding on capability development, sustainment and industry engagements.

Day-to-day operations:

  • Manage technical stewardship and due diligence of project deliverables for Structural Hull (Floaters) discipline and interface with counterparts across Hull & Marine and Topside Facilities disciplines.
  • Provide support to EPC functional and business leadership on market developments, competitor assessment, corporate business strategy developments.
  • Support leadership team on career path development and sustainment for discipline members on functional and project delivery roles.
  • Ownership on specific Management of Change procedures for respective disciplines on large capital projects.
  • Steward quality assurance and Management of Change procedures on Naval Architecture discipline.

Technical competencies:

  • Strong track record of delivering floater design and engineering work scope across concept design and development / concept select during Pre-FEED / FEED and EPC phase of projects.
  • Advanced working knowledge on design and operational aspects of offshore floating structures.
  • Advanced expertise on one or more aspects related to offshore floater scantling and construction plan development for newbuild designs, optimisation of steel structural design from construction in design mindset, conceptual, basic and detailed engineering for large volume large volume stiffened panel-based structures such as hull superstructures design, E-house casings, hull appertunences such as riser balconies, mooring porches, etc.
  • Strong background in floater structural design and analysis methodology, operational impact of design choices over floater system life cycle.
  • Demonstrated track record on interface engineering with regulatory compliance, floater structural engineering, hydrodynamics and mooring, weight control operational safety and readiness disciplines.
  • Strong experience with application of regulatory and code-based design and regulatory compliance for full life cycle aspects of floating structures.
  • Well versed with procedures, specifications, drawings, and all other offshore structural engineering related technical documentation.
  • Reliability assessments for structural design safety based on FORM, SORM methods.
  • Desirable to possess (or willingness to develop) broad network presence within the industry among engineering service providers / OEMs.

CAE Skills :

  • Working experience with Microsoft platforms such as SharePoint, OneDrive and Office suite.
  • Strong hands-on experience with 2D drafting tools such as AutoCAD or similar, 3D modelling / walkthrough environment such as Navisworks or similar, NURBS modelling tools such as Rhinoceros 3D or similar, FE panel / mesh model development and calibration for floating structure assessments using industry standard roles.
  • Working experience with one or more rules-based floater design (ABS-Eagle suite / BV Verisafe Hull or similar) , Global and Local FE analysis for hull structures and major appurtenances engineering using FeMAP (ideally).
  • Versatile engineering experience with FE analysis for global and local strength assessments for ship shaped / non ship shaped floating structures.
  • Experience with developing workflow automation tools via Python scripting or analysis toolkit specific scripting frameworks (ANSYS Macros / would be a strong advantage.

Education

Master's Degree in Ocean / Offshore Engineering (or) Naval Architecture (or) Marine Technology

Doctorate Degree in Ocean / Offshore Engineering (or) Naval Architecture (or) Marine Technology

Experience

Minimum cumulative experience 10+ years of experience as Principal Engineer in two or more of the following industry players:

(1) Tier I EPCIC Turnkey Services and Contractor Organizations.

(2) Specialists offshore floater / subsea engineering service providers with track record on floater / mooring system concept definition to construction follow up / handover phase ownership.

(3) Offshore Production Units Lease-Own-Operate organizations.

Functional membership in industrial networks such as OMAE / ISOPE / OTC / SPE committees and organizations.

Strong network with OEMs and engineering service industry.
