Senior Structural Engineer High-Rise & Mixed-Use (Design + Site Support)
Location: Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (Office-based with site visits)
Availability: Immediate / max 24 weeks notice
Type: Full-time
Reporting to: Structural Design Manager / Technical Director
Team: Structural engineers + BIM/Revit + QA/QC + site supervision team
Role Summary /
We are hiring a Senior Structural Engineer (10+ years) to lead and deliver structural design for high-rise and mixed-use projects (RC + steel), from concept through IFC and construction support. The role requires strong capability in ETABS/SAFE, deep foundations, BIM coordination, and practical site engineering judgment within Saudi Building Code and international standards (ACI/ASCE/IBC).
Key Responsibilities /
1) Structural Design Delivery (Core)
- Lead structural analysis and design for towers and mixed-use developments (core walls, transfer systems, podiums, basements).
- Produce/verify design calculations and outputs for slabs (PT/RC), beams, columns, shear walls/cores, transfer slabs/girders, and basements.
- Coordinate modelling assumptions and parameters (stiffness modifiers, cracked section properties, diaphragm modelling, P-Delta, drift control).
- Coordinate with architectural and MEP teams to ensure structural integrity and constructability.
2) Foundations & Geotechnical Interface
- Design and review deep foundations: piles, piled raft, barrettes/secant piles as applicable.
- Integrate geotechnical recommendations into design (bearing, settlement, lateral soil springs, uplift, negative skin friction).
- Support interpretation of pile load tests (static/PDA/O-cell where applicable) and update designs accordingly.
3) BIM & Multidisciplinary Coordination
- Work with BIM team in Revit (or BIM workflows) to align model and drawings (LOD expectations, openings/embeds, coordination deliverables).
- Support clash management with MEP/architecture and close coordination issues through structured RFI workflows.
4) Site & Construction Support
- Provide engineering responses during construction: RFIs, shop drawing reviews (rebar/steel), method statement reviews, technical clarifications.
- Assess NCRs/non-conformities and propose practical remedial solutions compliant with codes and safety requirements.
- Participate in site inspections and technical meetings as required.
5) QA/QC & Technical Leadership
- Perform design checks and mentor junior engineers; contribute to internal standards and templates.
- Ensure compliance with Saudi Building Code (SBC) and international standards (ACI 318, ASCE 7, IBC) and project specifications.
Minimum Requirements (Must-Have) /
- 10+ years structural design experience in a consultant office environment.
- Proven portfolio of high-rise and mixed-use building projects (not only villas/low-rise).
- Strong hands-on capability in ETABS and SAFE (advanced user).
- Experience with deep foundations and basements (pile/piled raft design exposure).
- Familiar with Saudi Building Code (SBC) and international standards ACI / ASCE / IBC.
- BIM coordination experience (Revit exposure and model-based workflows).
- Site experience: construction support, responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written). Arabic is a plus.
Ready to join immediately or within a short notice period.
Preferred / Advantage (Nice-to-Have) /
- Experience with steel structure design and close coordination on steel connection design/workflows (fabricator + specialist).
- Experience with tall building systems (outriggers/belt trusses/dampers) if applicable to project portfolio.
- Familiarity with additional tools: Tekla, SAP2000, Robot, RAM, IDEA StatiCa (any).
- Experience with authority submissions, peer reviews, and responding to formal review comments.
Key Software & Tools /
- ETABS, SAFE (mandatory)
- Revit/BIM workflows (coordination level expected)
- AutoCAD and advanced Excel design tools
- Optional: Tekla / SAP2000 / Robot / IDEA StatiCa
Deliverables Expected /
- Design criteria inputs and modelling basis (assumptions, load paths, design approach)
- Analysis models and design summaries (drift, forces, stability, foundation rationale)
- Calculation packages and technical notes
- IFC-ready coordination feedback and close-out of structural comments
- RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, and construction clarifications
Work Format (How the Role Runs in Our Office)
Weekly Rhythm
- Design priorities + coordination risks meeting (3045 min).
- Mid-week BIM/MEP coordination workshop (clashes/openings/riser impacts).
- End-week internal QA/QC gate for deliverables going to client/authority.
- Site visits: 12 times/week as required (depends on project stage).
Design Governance (Quality Gates)
- Gate 1: Concept modelling + system selection (lateral system, foundation type).
- Gate 2: SD/DD model freeze with drift/forces summary + foundation concept locked.
- Gate 3: IFC sign-off (drawings/calcs consistency, constructability check, RFI plan).
