Job Purpose:
The Salvage Handler will be responsible for the end-to-end management of motor salvage operations, ensuring maximum recovery value, cost efficiency, and strict compliance with internal SOPs and regulatory guidelines.
The role involves full handling of salvage cases, coordination with auction platforms (e.g., Auction / Copart), extracting auction results, preparing management dashboards, and conducting detailed data analysis to support Motor Claims decision-making and KPI performance.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Salvage Operations Management
- Handle all motor salvage cases from total loss confirmation until final disposal.
- Coordinate with surveyors, garages, recovery agents, and salvage vendors.
- Ensure proper documentation (police report, ownership transfer, deregistration, RTA requirements).
- Monitor salvage yard movements and ensure proper control of assets.
- Follow up on ownership transfers and release documentation.
2. Auction & Platform Management
- Upload salvage units into auction systems.
- Manage bidding process and monitor auction lifecycle.
- Extract auction results and analyze bidding trends.
- Ensure highest recovery value is achieved per unit.
- Coordinate award confirmation and payment follow-ups.
- Resolve disputes related to salvage valuation or awards.
3. Data Analysis & Dashboard Reporting
- Extract daily, weekly, and monthly salvage data from systems.
- Prepare management dashboards covering: Recovery ratios; Average salvage percentage vs IDV; Auction performance trends; Buyer performance analysis; Leakage identification
- Compare actual performance vs defined KPI targets.
- Conduct variance analysis between estimated and actual recovery.
- Identify patterns of fraud or unusual bidding activities.
4. Cost Control & Leakage Prevention
- Identify opportunities to improve salvage recovery.
- Monitor towing, storage, and yard expenses.
- Reduce turnaround time (TAT) between total loss decision and auction.
- Recommend process enhancements to improve net recovery.
- Support fraud detection initiatives in suspicious total loss cases.
5. System & Process Enhancement
- Support automation of manual salvage reports.
- Prepare detailed requirement notes for system enhancements.
- Maintain process flow documentation related to salvage handling.
- Work closely with IT for salvage-related system improvements.
- Contribute to digital transformation initiatives within Motor Claims.
6. Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination
6.a Coordinate with:
- Claims team
- Finance Legal
- Surveyors
- Auction houses
- RTA
6.b Manage assigned salvage mailbox and respond within defined TAT.
6.c Address internal and external queries related to salvage cases.
