Job Description

College/Department Profile

The Simulation Specialist at the QU HealthSector supports the design, development, and facilitation of simulation-basededucation for QU Health programs. Reporting to the Head of Simulation, thespecialist is responsible for managing simulation activities, maintaining bestpractices in simulation pedagogy, and ensuring the effective use of thesimulation center's resources. The role involves scenario development, simulationfacilitation, debriefing sessions, and ensuring the equipment is functional andready for use. The Simulation Specialist plays a key role in enhancing thelearning experience for students through hands-on clinical training andimmersive simulation scenarios

Duties & ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with faculty to design, develop, andimplement advanced simulation-based education scenarios that meet the learningobjectives of health sciences programs at QU-Health
Lead debriefing sessions following simulations,guiding students and faculty through reflective discussions to reinforcelearning and improve clinical decision-making
Oversee the daily operations of the simulationcenter, including the setup, operation, and maintenance of simulation labs andequipment
Ensure the proper maintenance and storage ofsimulation equipment, reporting any issues to the Head of Simulation Center
Maintain and update simulation equipment,resolving technical issues promptly
Work with faculty to develop simulation-basedcurricula and provide advanced training and support to clinical educators inthe use of simulation technologies and methodologies
Stay updated on the latest trends andadvancements in simulation-based education and healthcare simulationtechnologies. Participate in professional development activities and trainingto continuously enhance expertise
Ensure that simulation activities follow bestpractices, including adherence to Healthcare Simulation Standards of BestPractice
Assist with the preparation for accreditationprocesses as needed
Collect and analyze data from simulationactivities to evaluate the effectiveness of the scenarios and makerecommendations for improvement
Perform other related duties as assigned by theHead of Simulation or other senior leadership within QU Health
Generate technical evaluation reports for theacquisition of new equipment in the center

Non Academic:

  1. Curriculum Vitae with cover letter.

Academic:
  1. Current Curriculum Vitae with Cover letter.
  2. Teaching,research, and service philosophy.
  3. Three referees contact information (physical and email addresses as well their telephones contact).
  4. Copy of highest earned credential (transcript of highest degree if graduated from an institution where course work was completed.However, if no course work was completed,an copy of certificate letter from the registrar of your highest credential granting institution regarding your highest academic degree).
  5. Any additional documentation that you feel is relevant to your application.
