ALSUWEIDI Engineering Consultants is looking for an experienced Site Architect to join our supervision team for projects in the UAE. The Site Architect will make sure that the building work meets all legal, technical, quality and contractual standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Site Supervision & Quality Compliance
- Monitor day-to-day architectural activities to ensure works comply with approved IFC drawings, specifications, method statements, and project quality requirements.
- Conduct routine inspections for workmanship, finishing quality, material installation, and compliance with design intent; identify non-conformities and follow up corrective actions.
- Verify interfaces and execution quality for critical architectural elements.
2) Submittals, Shop Drawings, RFIs & Technical Clarifications
- Review and comment on architectural shop drawings, material submittals, mock-ups, and samples for compliance with contract documents and design intent; coordinate recommendations for approval.
- Manage and respond to architectural RFIs/technical queries, providing timely clarifications and coordinating with the design office where needed.
- Support the evaluation of architectural change proposals and variations and provide technical input on potential impacts on quality, schedule, and cost (as per consultant procedures).
3) Multidisciplinary & Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate architectural works with Structural, MEP, Interior Design, Landscape, Faade, and Specialist subcontractors to ensure smooth interface management and clash-free execution.
- Attend site coordination meetings; track action items, drive closure, and escalate risks that may affect progress or quality.
- Liaise with client/PMC/other consultants/sub-consultants as assigned.
4) Progress Monitoring & Reporting
- Review construction sequences and look-aheads for architectural scope; flag constraints/risks and support recovery planning with the Resident Engineer.
- Prepare daily/weekly site reports, inspection records, snagging lists, and progress updates.
5) Authority & Code Compliance Support (UAE)
- Ensure works comply with applicable UAE codes, local authority regulations, and project standards, and maintain required documentation/records.
- Support inspections and compliance evidence as required.
6) Handover & Close-Out
- Support testing/commissioning interface as it relates to architectural completion; participate in snagging, de-snagging, and handover readiness.
- Assist with the as-built verification and closure of the architectural documentation for the final handover.
REQUIREMENTS
Educational Background:
- Bachelor's degree in architecture / architectural engineering.
Relevant Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, with at least 4 to 6 years in UAE site supervision within engineering consultancy.
- Strong knowledge of UAE construction practices and authority regulations.
- Proven experience in residential, commercial, hospitality, or mixed-use projects.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of architectural detailing, finishing works, waterproofing, and faade interfaces.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; working knowledge of Revit/BIM preferred.
- Strong MS Office skills for reporting and documentation.
- Ability to interpret and coordinate multidisciplinary drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and quality-oriented mindset.
- Effective coordination and communication skills.
- Problem-solving capability in site environments.
- Professional approach in dealing with contractors and stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple site issues simultaneously.
