Job Description

A Site Engineer in Fit-out is responsible for managing and overseeing the construction activities at the project site and ensuring that the project is completed within the specified time, cost, and quality parameters.

Areas of Accountability: Main Activities

Oversee the installation and assembly of joinery products at the site, ensuring that the work is completed according to the approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.

Monitor the progress of the work at the site and keep track of any changes to the scope of work or project timeline, communicating these changes to the project manager and other stakeholders as needed.

Coordinate with the production team at the joinery factory to ensure that the required materials and products are delivered to the site on time and in the correct quantity and quality.

Conduct regular site inspections to identify any defects or issues with the work and take corrective action as needed, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Manage the site workforce, including subcontractors and labourers, and ensure that they are working efficiently and effectively to meet project deadlines and quality standards.

Maintain accurate records of all work completed at the site, including daily reports, progress reports, and any other documentation required by the project manager or client.

Ensure that all health and safety procedures and regulations are followed on the site, and take appropriate action to address any safety concerns or hazards that may arise.

Reviewing and understanding project plans, drawings and specifications, and ensuring compliance with the same.

Preparing project schedules and monitoring progress against the same, and ensuring timely completion of the project.

Coordinating with the project team, including architects, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers, to ensure smooth execution of the project.

Conducting site inspections to identify and resolve any issues or challenges that may arise during the project.

Managing project budgets and ensuring cost-effective execution of the project.

Ensuring adherence to health and safety standards at the site, and promoting a culture of safety among workers and subcontractors.

Managing quality control and ensuring that work is done in accordance with the specified quality standards.

Preparing and submitting regular project reports to the project manager or client as required.

Managing project documentation, including drawings, reports, and change orders.

Maintaining good relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Providing technical guidance and support to the project team as needed.

Keeping up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technology, and innovations in fitout construction, and incorporating these into the project where appropriate.

Job Requirements

A. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Mechanical engineering, architecture or a related field.

B. Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the fit-out industry.

C. Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • Good knowledge of fitout construction methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office, and project management software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure that projects are completed.
  • Strong leadership skills to manage and coordinate a team of workers and subcontractors.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify issues and find creative solutions to address them.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures.
