As a leader in the aerospace industry, we have several exciting positions available right now, including a part-time Snr. Design Engineer in our Havant facility,
Working Hours 3 days per week, 0800 1645.
The successful candidate can expect to:
Liaise with Program Management, customers, internal departments, and suppliers to obtain relevant information for required design development and documentation.
Provide technical guidance to internal and external stakeholders for product development and help guide technical decision making.
Solving difficult and sometimes complex technical problems to assist in the progression of product development. Providing guidance to other engineers to assist in problem solving.
Provide bespoke product designs in a timely manner, based on customer requirements that are reliable, high quality and meet customer specifications and expectations for parts manufactured for installation in the passenger cabin of commercial and private aircraft.
This includes:
2D & 3D CAD Design (Solidworks) & BOM creation and management (PDM)
Preparation of Test Solutions and documentation to support Qualification testing
Understanding of manufacturing & finishing techniques and disciplines
Design of moulding, sheet metal, machining, cables, PCB assemblies etc.
3D printing prototyping and development, prototype hands on build
Basic Electronics
Systems integration and interface control.
Revision of drawings and documentation in line with review comments from Peers, Customers, and Certification Authorities until designs are approved.
Undertake drawing and document checking when required.
Review of internal and external documentations to ensure completeness and accuracy.
Attend internal / external meetings and calls and offsite travel as required.
Skills:
Ability to work to project deadlines under pressure in a busy environment.
Ability to work with limited information and proactively track down what is required to keep design and development moving.
Ability to work on own initiative with minimal oversight and interact with staff members at all levels within the business.
Tactical approach to problem solving.
Meticulous attention to detail is essential.
Good understanding of an Engineering Office environment.
Must be computer literate: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.
Must be highly proficient: Solidworks or similar

What you need to succeed
Essential Criteria:
Degree / HNC / HND in a suitable engineering subject.
Minimum 5 years design experience in an engineering environment, e.g., Aerospace, Aviation, Automotive, Marine or similar
Desirable Criteria:
An understanding of aircraft manufacturers qualification standards and related standards, e.g., D6-36440, RTCA/DO-160, ABD0100.1.2, etc.
