The PM&R physician is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and managing patients with musculoskeletal, neurological, and functional impairments. The physician will develop and implement individualized rehabilitation plans, perform specialized procedures, and collaborate closely with orthopedics, physiotherapy, pain management, and radiology teams to optimize patient recovery and functional outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.
  • Develop and oversee individualized rehabilitation programs to restore function and improve quality of life.
  • Perform specialized procedures within the PM&R scope (e.g., joint injections, EMG/NCS, spasticity management).
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including orthopedic surgeons, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and pain specialists.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
  • Ensure proper documentation of patient evaluations, treatment plans, and outcomes in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements (DOH, Daman).
  • Educate patients and families on disease management, rehabilitation goals, and home exercise programs.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, case discussions, and continuous professional development activities.
  • Maintain high standards of clinical governance, patient safety, and quality of care.

Qualifications

  • Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with board certification in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R / Physiatry / Sports Medicine).
  • Valid license to practice (as required by DOH or local regulatory authorities).
  • Experience in musculoskeletal rehabilitation and performing PM&R procedures is highly desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
