JOB SUMMARY

The role provides individualized and group support to students to enhance their academic, social-emotional, and behavioral development in alignment with their Learning Support Plans. The position involves implementing tailored support strategies across various school environments, preparing instructional resources, and monitoring student progress through data collection. The role also includes collaboration with teachers and specialists to support student outcomes, participation in meetings to review progress and contribute to planning, and promoting an inclusive, safe, and discrimination-free school environment. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the immediate supervisor as needed.

Reports to: Specialized learning support teacher

Job Summary: Specialized learning support teacher Assistants provide additional support to identified students as needed, receiving specialized support services.

Hours: Full-time - 7:45 - 4:00 PM to support co-curricular activities with students

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities:

● Provide support to an identified student as needed.

● Implement specific aspects of the student's Learning Support Plan in the classroom, playground, PE, Specialist classes, Co-curricular activities, or other environments as required by the Specialized Learning Support Teacher and/or the classroom teacher.

● Collect data on student achievement, social-emotional functioning, and behavior under the direction of the Specialized Learning Support Teacher.

● Prepare resource material to support the students Learning Support Plan.

● Assist students in learning as indicated on the students Learning Support Plan.

● Attend meetings to discuss student progress and to assist in the development of Learning Support Plans.

● Provide support to other students in various environments (inside and outside the classroom).

● Fosters and sustains a community that rejects all forms of discrimination.

● Assists in developing and maintaining safe spaces for all individuals at CAC.

● Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications:

● Bachelor's degree, preferably with a Special Education background

● At least 2 years of related experience dealing with children in a classroom environment

● Proficient in productivity applications, both installed and cloud-based apps

● Excellent verbal and written communication skills

● Demonstrates a strong sense of organizational and time management skills and detail-oriented

● Highly motivated, flexible, and can multitask

● Ability to identify issues, determine solutions, and work in a collaborative environment

● Confidentiality is a must
