Job Description:

The Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) is responsible for independently managing a defined clinical caseload across schools, nurseries, and within the therapy centre. The role involves delivering high-quality, child-centred speech and language therapy services to children presenting with a range of communication impairments, developmental disorders, learning difficulties, and special educational needs.
The SLT will actively contribute to the Learning and Therapy Intervention Programme, Able-Me, supporting staff development and modelling therapeutic interventions to enhance programme quality and outcomes. The role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, leadership in defined projects, training provision for education staff, and commitment to continuous professional development (CPD). All duties must be carried out in compliance with the Dubai Health Authority Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Clinical Responsibilities
  • The Speech and Language Therapist will autonomously plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based speech and language therapy services for children and their families/carers in centre-based, school, and nursery settings. Services will include comprehensive assessment, differential diagnosis, formulation of treatment plans, goal setting, report writing, therapy delivery (individual and group sessions), ongoing review, and discharge planning.
  • The therapist must demonstrate expertise in managing paediatric cases involving:
  • Speech and language delays and disorders.
  • Developmental disorders
  • Learning difficulties and special educational needs.
  • Social communication difficulties.
  • Children presenting with challenging behaviours.
The SLT will:
  • Conduct a wide range of paediatric clinical assessments competently.
  • Develop and implement child-centred intervention plans aligned with current evidence-based practice.
  • Use measurable outcome tools to evaluate therapy effectiveness.
  • Provide direct and indirect therapy to individuals and small groups.
  • Lead and co-lead group therapy sessions alongside therapists or support assistants.
