We are seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator to manage, support, and optimize SQL Server environments across development, testing, and mission-critical production systems. The role focuses on ensuring high availability, performance, security, and reliability of SQL Server platforms in a large-scale enterprise environment. The position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage SQL Server databases across multiple lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production.
- Install, configure, and upgrade Microsoft SQL Server (2019, 2017, 2016, 2014, 2012 R2).
- Manage and support high availability and disaster recovery solutions including SQL Server Always-On, Failover Clustering, SAN replication, mirroring, and log shipping.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve SQL Server outages and performance issues, including after-hours support when required.
- Ensure database backup strategies meet business Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
- Test backups and recovery procedures to ensure business continuity.
- Configure and manage SQL Server monitoring tools to ensure proactive alerting and minimize false alarms.
- Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and database health checks.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex database issues independently and in real time.
- Automate routine database administration tasks and maintain accurate technical documentation.
- Perform scheduled maintenance activities and support application and database release deployments.
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize database design and performance.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Support development, test, and production environments with on-call availability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a mid-sized or large enterprise IT environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration.
- Proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, SSIS packages, and query optimization.
- Strong experience in database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
- In-depth experience with SQL Server Always-On Availability Groups and clustering technologies.
- Experience with SQL Server replication technologies (transactional, merge, snapshot, mirroring, log shipping).
- Experience with performance tuning, database assessments, and query monitoring.
- Experience with SSRS and SSAS.
- Experience working with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft Azure.
- Familiarity with Power BI and R is preferred.
- Exposure to other database platforms such as Oracle, DB2, PostgreSQL, or MySQL is a plus.
- SQL Server MCSA/MCSE certifications are an advantage.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
