Position: Sr. Oracle Database Specialist

Role Summary
The Oracle DB Specialist/DBA will be deployed onsite in UAE to support day-to-day database operations and assist in database migration activities from Oracle on AIX to Oracle Exadata X11M (on premises).
The role is execution-focused, working under the direction of senior Oracle architects who own solution design and migration strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Database Operations (Primary Responsibility)
- Perform daily Oracle DBA operations across Production, DR, and Non-Production environments
- Monitor database health, performance, and availability
- Execute routine DBA activities, including:
- User management o Tablespace and storage management o Backup and recovery validation
- Patch application (as per approved runbooks and guidance)
- Handle incidents and service requests in coordination with onsite and offshore teams
- Maintain operational documentation and runbooks
Migration Support (AIX Exadata)
- Support execution of database migrations from AIX to Oracle Exadata
- Assist with o Pre-migration readiness checks
- Export/Import or RMAN-based or OGG migration tasks
- Post-migration validation and smoke testing
- Coordinate with senior architects during cutover windows
- Validate application connectivity post-migration
- Assist in rollback/fallback procedures if required
High Availability & DR Support
- Support Oracle Data Guard operations (Primary / Standby)
- Monitor replication health and resolve common synchronization issues
- Execute switchover/failover activities under supervision
- Participate in DR drills and validation exercises
Exadata & Platform Support
- Perform assigned operational tasks on Oracle Exadata
- Monitor database performance (AWR, basic SQL tuning)
- Coordinate with infrastructure teams for OS, network, or hardware-related activities
- Escalate Exadata-specific issues to senior DBAs or architects as needed
Mandatory Skills & Experience
- 10 years of hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA Strong experience with
- Oracle Database 19c, 12c o Day-to-day DBA operations
- Practical experience supporting Oracle Data Guard
- Exposure to Unix environments (AIX and/or Linux)
- Experience supporting database migration activities
- Ability to strictly follow runbooks and execute tasks accurately
- Willingness and availability to work onsite in UAE
Nice-to-Have
- Prior exposure to Oracle Exadata environments
- Basic performance analysis using AWR / ASH
- Experience working in regulated enterprise or banking environments
- Prior experience working in onsite customer-facing roles
Certifications
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP Oracle Database)
- Oracle Certified Associate (OCA)
- ITIL Foundation (nice to have)
