Purpose
The Steel Bender is responsible for shaping and bending steel materials to precise specifications for use in the manufacturing of armored and industrial vehicles. This role involves operating machinery, interpreting blueprints, and ensuring compliance with The Armored Group's quality standards and safety protocols.
Job Responsibilities
- Material Preparation: Select and inspect steel materials to ensure they meet required specifications. Measure and mark materials for cutting and bending according to blueprints and work orders.
- Machine Operation: Operate bending machines and tools to shape steel components accurately. Adjust machine settings for different types and thicknesses of steel.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect bent steel parts to ensure they meet required dimensions and tolerances. Address any defects or deviations by making necessary adjustments.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to understand bending requirements. Ensure finished components align with design specifications.
- Maintenance and Safety: Perform routine maintenance on bending machines to ensure optimal performance. Follow safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper handling of materials.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the steel cutting and production teams to meet project deadlines. Communicate any material or equipment issues to the Steel Cutting Supervisor.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in metal fabrication or machining is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in steel bending or metal fabrication.
Skills
- Proficiency in operating bending machines and tools.
- Strong understanding of blueprints, technical drawings, and tolerances.
- Attention to detail to ensure precise bending and shaping of steel materials.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and handling of heavy machinery.
