PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
STP Operator is responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the Sewage Treatment Plant to ensure smooth functioning and compliance with environmental regulations. The role includes monitoring plant performance, maintaining equipment, recording operational data, and ensuring treated water quality meets required standards.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate and monitor STP systems including pumps, blowers, aerators, clarifiers, and filters.
- Ensure proper functioning of biological and chemical treatment processes.
- Monitor inlet and outlet water parameters such as pH, BOD, COD, TSS, etc.
- Collect water samples and maintain daily operational logs and records.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance of equipment.
- Identify and report mechanical or electrical issues to maintenance team.
- Maintain chemical dosing systems and ensure safe handling of chemicals.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and pollution control standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in plant area.
- Coordinate with external agencies for water quality testing if required.
- Support troubleshooting during plant breakdowns or emergencies.
QUALIFICATION
- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental Engineering or related field.
EXPERIENCE
- 2–3 years of experience in STP/ETP operations preferred.
- Basic knowledge of sewage treatment processes and equipment.
- Understanding of safety procedures and environmental regulations.
- Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
- Willingness to work in shifts.
