Job Purpose
- To support the safe and compliant delivery of solar EPC projects by conducting site verification, performing structural assessments of rooftops and carports, and coordinating architectural and structural requirements to develop installation-ready documentation aligned with project constraints and stakeholder requirements.
Roles, Responsibilities, Duties
Site Assessment & Verification
- Conduct site walkdowns to identify structural and installation constraints
- Review available as-built drawings and flag missing or critical information.
- Support project mobilisation through early-stage technical validation.
Structural Evaluation
- Perform structural assessments for rooftop and carport installations (RCC, steel, and metal roofs).
- Validate the load capacity for
- PV modules
- Mounting systems
- Anchoring solutions
- Maintenance access requirements
Architectural & Installation Coordination
- Develop coordinated design deliverables, including:
- Rooftop zoning and equipment layouts
- Access routes and movement pathways
- Mounting and penetration detailing
- Waterproofing interfaces and flashing coordination
- Walkways, clearances, and fall protection integration
Design & Engineering Deliverables
- Prepare IFC-ready packages aligned with:
- Electrical layout
- Stringing strategies
- Inverter positioning
- Cable routing constraints
Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with clients, consultants, facilities teams, and contractors to resolve:
- Roof waterproofing requirements
- Warranty limitations
- Penetration methodologies
- Architectural constraints (parapets, skylights, drainage, HVAC, access points)
Compliance & Authority Support
- Provide structural inputs to support approvals and NOC processes.
- Ensure alignment with safety and authority requirements where applicable.
Mounting & Structural System Review
- Review mounting systems and anchoring methodologies.
- Support pull-out testing requirements.
- Validate baseplate and foundation detailing for carport structures.
Project Handover Support
Prepare and validate:
- As-built drawings
- Structural calculation documentation
- Testing records
- Close-out deliverables
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with design, site, QA/QC, and HSE teams.
- Support the timely closure of RFIs and technical clarifications during execution.
Occupational and workplace Health and Safety responsibilities:
- In addition to all job specific responsibilities, all employees are required to adhere to all Khidmah health, safety and environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, practices, and relevant legal and statutory health, safety and environmental requirements and obligations. All employees are personally responsible to familiarize themselves with these policies, procedures, practices, updates, etc. Khidmah HSE department regularly updates existing and introduce new policies, procedures and practices and each employee is personally responsible to ensure they stay updated and compliant with all such updates and new additions.
Information Security responsibilities:
- Comply with Khidmah Information Security Policies
- Be aware of and fulfil their information security responsibilities
- Ensure whoever handles sensitive company information have taken the Security Awareness Training
- Know how to report a security incident (to IT ServiceDesk or InfoSec).
- Not Disable his/her OS firewall and/or Antivirus
- Restrict use to authorized purposes, Protect access accounts, privileges and associated passwords.
- Accept accountability of his/her individual user accounts, and maintain confidentiality
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Structural and architectural packages issued on time with minimal rework during construction.
- Zero major structural non-conformities across project execution.
- Effective coordination with waterproofing and access requirements to avoid roof warranty issues.
- Timely closure of RFIs and site design clarifications.
- Accurate as-built drawings and complete close-out documentation.
Qualification:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering (or related field).
Working knowledge of structural design tools, drafting standards, and local construction codes preferred.
Experience and Skills:
Industry Experience (No. of years):
2–6 years in structural or architectural engineering within EPC or construction projects.
Position/functional experience (No. of years):
Practical experience in rooftop structures and design coordination; exposure to carport systems or solar PV installations is preferred.
Competencies and Skills:
Strong ability to interpret and coordinate architectural and structural drawings into construction-ready installation details.
Working knowledge of UAE construction practices, roof systems, waterproofing coordination, and site constraint management.
Proficiency in:
AutoCAD
MS Excel and MS Office
Structural calculation tools (e.g., STAAD / ETABS / SAP or equivalent) is an advantage
Strong documentation discipline including RFIs, submittals review, redlining, as-built updates, and tracking.
Clear communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams including design, site, QA/QC, and HSE functions.
