TITLE: Structural Engineer
DEPARTMENT: Engineering
LOCATION: UAE
REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager / Lead or Senior Structural Engineer
EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Mid-Level (4 Years)
Role Overview
The Structural Engineer plays a vital role in delivering safe, robust, and efficient structural solutions for GFRC, UHPC, and faade support systems across Building Blocks projects. This role is responsible for completing structural analysis, preparing calculation packages, reviewing shop drawings, and supporting the coordination between Design, Project Engineering, Manufacturing, and Site Teams.
With a growing level of independence, the Structural Engineer is expected to handle moderately complex engineering tasks, identify risks early, propose practical solutions, and apply engineering judgment while still collaborating closely with senior engineers for advanced or critical elements. The role requires strong analytical skills, precision, discipline in documentation, and a proactive attitude toward problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Structural Analysis & Engineering Design
Perform structural analysis for GFRC, UHPC, steel brackets, anchors, and subframe systems.
Calculate loads, stresses, deflection limits, and safety factors using relevant codes.
Develop safe and efficient detail solutions for connections, embed plates, reinforcement, and support systems.
Validate and refine concepts in collaboration with Design and Senior Engineers.
Technical Documentation & Engineering Packages
Prepare structured and professionally formatted calculation packages for internal and external submission.
Provide engineering markups to guide Shop Drawings and Manufacturing Drawings.
Maintain engineering logs, revision records, and submission tracking.
Ensure documents follow standard templates, protocols, and QA/QC requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with the Design team to evaluate feasibility and propose optimized structural solutions.
Coordinate with Project Engineering and Site Operations to address constructability concerns.
Support Manufacturing with reinforcement clarifications, embed placement, lifting/stress checks, and technical guidance.
Support responses to RFIs, consultant comments, and third-party engineering reviews.
Codes, Compliance & Quality Assurance
Apply relevant engineering standards (ACI, BS, EN, PCI, ASTM, etc.).
Ensure all engineering work reflects the latest architectural and design revisions.
Conduct QA/QC checks on drawings, details, and engineering deliverables.
Identify design or structural risks early and escalate where needed.
Research, Development & Continuous Improvement
Support mock-ups, prototypes, and structural performance testing.
Contribute to the development of improved engineering tools and templates.
Participate in lessons-learned sessions and engineering knowledge sharing.
Additional Responsibilities
Perform accurate structural calculations for faade elements and support systems.
Review and mark up Shop Drawings and Manufacturing Drawings for compliance with engineering requirements.
Coordinate with designers to ensure alignment between design intent and structural feasibility.
Perform lifting, transportation, and installation checks for GFRC/UHPC panels.
Support engineering responses to RFIs and consultant comments.
Maintain calculation sheets, records, and engineering documentation following company procedures.
Participate in constructability reviews and site support discussions.
Collaborate with Senior Engineers on complex or critical calculations and designs.
