Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily inspections of structural works on site, including foundations, columns, beams, slabs, shear walls, cores, and structural steel elements.
  • Ensure all structural activities comply with project drawings, approved method statements, material submittals, and relevant international and local codes.
  • Verify correct implementation of construction sequences, formwork, reinforcement placement, concrete pouring, curing, and structural steel erection.
  • Coordinate with the main contractor and subcontractors to resolve non-conformities and technical site issues.
  • Monitor progress and report on the quality and workmanship of structural works, ensuring they align with project milestones and safety regulations.
  • Witness testing procedures, such as concrete slump tests, cube tests, rebar testing, and non-destructive testing (NDT) where applicable.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, photographs, and daily site reports using both paper and digital systems (e.g., Aconex, Procore).
  • Assist in reviewing shop drawings, bar bending schedules, and as-built submissions.
  • Flag and report any deviations from design intent or potential safety concerns to the Senior Structural Engineer and Resident Engineer.
  • Support handover inspections and ensure all punch list items related to structural works are properly addressed.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum 7+ years of site inspection experience, with at least 3 years in shopping malls or large commercial buildings.
  • Strong knowledge of concrete and steel construction practices, sequencing, and safety protocols.
  • Familiarity with international building codes (e.g., ACI, BS, Eurocodes) and local authority requirements.
  • Proficient in using inspection tools, field instruments, and digital reporting systems.
  • QA/QC certification or training is a plus.
  • Safety certification (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH) is an advantage.
