Job Purpose
This role is dedicated to supporting first-year students as they transition from high school to higher education. This position acts as a central hub for support and resource connection for new students from onboarding throughout the first year. The role drives strategic student success initiatives aimed at improving retention, academic performance and campus engagement. The role will improve new student satisfaction and retention by easing the transition into university life, assisting with social integration, and helping students understand academic requirements.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Coordinate, develop and promote existing and new strategic initiative aimed at enhancing the overall new student experience based on critical needs of students and university
· Support new students with visa, medical insurance, special needs and accommodation, student residence accommodation and commuter transportation services
· Develop key strategies to support a successful transition to university life
· Lead and execute initiatives supporting new student recruitment and retention
· Increase overall community engagement in new student support
· Help students understand university policies and connect them to resources
· Serve as a resource for student concerns, providing guidance, referrals, and support for academic, social, and personal challenges
· Facilitate leadership development with student volunteers in support of orientation
· Coordinate closely with the Student Government for new student support
· Establish and maintain good relationships with relevant staff and faculty, student leaders, paid student workers and regularly communicate relevant information provided by students
· Ensure student issues are effectively managed to a successful resolution, providing a clear and customer-focused summary of the issue to all relevant staff and if appropriate to any external parties
· Act as a representative on behalf of the Student Affairs Office on University committees when required to ensure students are supported (i.e., various committees, staff council, commencement committee, task forces) in addition to special projects
· Support the department head with budget allocation and spending
· Data driven program refinement and reporting
· Support the Associate Director with reporting requirements
· Coordinate the role's work in support of both the Student Affairs and University's strategic objectives
· Ensure adherence to university policies, regulatory bodies and the UAE laws
· Support new student emergency and sensitive situations, during and outside of official office hours
· Perform any other related tasks as assigned / needed.
· Ensure compliance with all relevant (internal and external) regulations including QHSE requirements using RIT policies and procedures as appropriate.
Job Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, business or a related field
· Experience in student affairs, academic advising, teaching or customer service
· Previous experience working with young adults in a guidance or mentorship capacity
· Ability to train and effectively lead student volunteers and paid student workers
· Expertise in Productivity Tools (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workplace)
· Proficiency in Student Information Systems (SIS) and CRM systems (e.g., Peoplesoft and Slate).
· Experience in Artificial Intelligence Tools for Higher Education
· Knowledge of Forecasting and Analytics Tools
· Ability to work under pressure, multi-tasking and meet deadlines
· Accuracy and attention to details
· Self-driven, motivated, supportive, team player and transparent.
