Job Description

Job Summary:

As aSupplier Development Specialistat Southern Province Cement Company (SPCC), you will play a critical role in strengthening our supply chain by optimizing supplier performance, fostering strategic partnerships, and ensuring alignment with SPCCs goals of operational excellence, sustainability, and cost efficiency. This role focuses on enhancing supplier capabilities in raw materials (e.g., limestone, gypsum), equipment, and logistics services critical to cement production, while ensuring compliance with SPCCs quality, safety, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Supplier Evaluation & Strategy:
  • Conduct audits and assessments of suppliers (e.g., raw material providers, equipment vendors, logistics partners) to evaluate technical capabilities, quality systems, and compliance with SPCCs standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OSHA safety guidelines).
  • Develop supplier improvement plans to address gaps in cost efficiency, delivery reliability, and sustainability practices (e.g., reducing carbon footprint in logistics).
  • Collaborate with SPCCs procurement, production, and sustainability teams to align supplier strategies with SPCCs long-term goals.
  1. Performance Management:
  • Monitor KPIs such as on-time delivery of raw materials, equipment uptime, defect rates, and adherence to environmental regulations.
  • Implement supplier scorecards and conduct quarterly performance reviews to drive accountability.
  • Lead root cause analysis for supplier-related production delays or quality issues (e.g., inconsistencies in raw material composition).
  1. Continuous Improvement:
  • Drive Lean/Six Sigma projects to optimize supplier processes (e.g., reducing lead times for spare parts, improving inventory turnover).
  • Train suppliers on SPCCs quality standards, safety protocols, and sustainability requirements (e.g., waste reduction, energy efficiency).
  • Negotiate cost-saving initiatives and joint innovation programs (e.g., alternative fuels or raw materials to support SPCCs sustainability goals).
  1. Risk & Compliance:
  • Mitigate risks in the supply chain, such as geopolitical disruptions, raw material shortages, or non-compliance with Saudi Arabian regulatory standards.
  • Ensure suppliers adhere to SPCCs ethical sourcing policies, environmental commitments, and health/safety guidelines.
  1. Collaboration & Travel:
  • Build long-term partnerships with local and international suppliers to secure reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable resources.
  • Travel to supplier sites (up to 30%) for audits, training, and resolving critical issues (e.g., quarries, logistics hubs, equipment manufacturers).
Qualifications:
  • Education:Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience:
  • 3-5 years in supplier development, procurement, or supply chain roles withincement, construction materials, or heavy manufacturing industries.
  • Familiarity with raw material sourcing, heavy machinery suppliers, and cement production processes.
  • Certifications (Preferred):
  • CSCP, CPSM, Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), or PMP.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), and OSHA standards.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and data analysis tools (Power BI, Excel) for tracking supplier performance.
  • Strong negotiation skills to drive cost reductions and contract improvements.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English (preferred for local and international supplier engagement).
