The Systems Administration Lead is responsible for leading the design, stability, security, and continuous improvement of the organization's IT infrastructure across both on-premises and cloud environments.
This role goes beyond day-to-day operations, focusing on
ownership, scalability, and team leadership, while ensuring high availability and performance of all systems supporting core business functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead, mentor, and develop the Systems Engineering team, ensuring high performance and technical growth
- Act as the main escalation point for complex technical issues
- Drive accountability, ownership, and best practices within the team
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to align IT initiatives with business needs
- Oversee the stability, integrity, and performance of all IT systems (on-prem & cloud)
- Manage and optimize Microsoft-based environments (Windows Server, Exchange, SQL Server, SharePoint)
- Ensure efficient system monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes
- Lead system upgrades, patches, and infrastructure enhancements
- Manage and administer virtualization environments (VMware vSphere, vCenter, Microsoft Hyper-V)
- Oversee multi-site infrastructure and ensure high availability
- Administer and optimize SAN/NAS storage solutions
- Ensure systems are aligned with security standards and best practices
- Participate in defining and enforcing IT policies, procedures, and documentation
- Proactively identify risks and implement mitigation plans
- Monitor system performance and recommend improvements
- Drive automation and efficiency across infrastructure operations
- Conduct regular system reviews and capacity planning
- Maintain accurate documentation for systems, processes, and configurations
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding incidents, changes, and improvements
- Translate technical concepts into business-friendly language
REQUIREMENTS- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 7–10 years of experience in Systems Administration / System Engineering
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership or team mentoring role
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Windows Server (2008, 2012, 2016 and above)
- Microsoft technologies (Exchange, SQL Server, SharePoint)
- VMware (vSphere, vCenter) and/or Microsoft Hyper-V
- SAN/NAS storage administration
- Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure and hybrid environments
- Proven experience in system design, implementation, and optimization
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in high-pressure environments
- Experience with monitoring tools and remote management systems
- Microsoft Certifications (MCSA, MCSE)
- VMware Certifications (VCP, VCA)
- Experience in multi-site or enterprise environments
