Job Description

Job Summary

The Tax Applications Development Expert develops and reviews practices that govern the full lifecycle of the organisation's tax applications. The role places particular emphasis on e-invoicing applications and digital tax solutions, ensuring that systems supporting invoice submission, validation, processing, and reporting are developed and governed in line with regulatory and operational requirements. The role analyzes specifications, assesses conformance to development and service standards, advises on product governance, and monitors quality and post-launch support to meet agreed service levels, especially for mission-critical e-invoicing platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Development Lifecycle & Standards

  • Guides the end-to-end development lifecycle of organisation tax applications and reviews adherence to it, including e-invoicing systems and related digital tax applications.
  • Assesses conformance to approved development, PMO, and IT service management standards and advises on corrective actions, ensuring e-invoicing solutions meet required quality, security, and regulatory standards.

Specifications & Design

  • Reviews and analyzes functional and technical specifications for tax applications and advises on approval decisions, with a specific focus on e-invoicing business rules, workflows, and system integrations.

Product Governance

  • Coordinates governance over third-party tax application products and monitors their compliance with organisation standards, including vendors and service providers supporting e-invoicing capabilities.
  • Coordinates governance for internally developed products and reviews outcomes against agreed controls, ensuring e-invoicing applications align with approved architectures and governance requirements.

Quality Assurance & Readiness

  • Monitors software quality assurance activities across development processes and reviews release readiness, particularly for e-invoicing releases, enhancements, and regulatory updates.
  • Assesses test cases and test plans and advises on approvals, including end-to-end e-invoicing scenarios and integrations.
  • Guides the appropriate use of testing tools and reviews the resulting evidence, ensuring adequate coverage of e-invoicing workflows and compliance validations.

Post-Launch Support

  • Coordinates maintenance and support for tax applications after launch and monitors performance against service level agreements, with emphasis on the stability and availability of e-invoicing systems.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Master's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Relevant professional certifications are an advantage.

Preferred experience

  • 16+ years of relevant experience in applications development and application lifecycle management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software quality assurance, standards compliance, and product governance.

Technical & Other Skills

  • Proficiency in software development lifecycle assurance, QA practices, and application governance.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and coordination skills.
  • Clear communication and attention to accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ability to collaborate across technical and business stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum Financial Grade: 2nd Financial Grade
  • PhD / Doctorate - 12 Years of experience required
  • MSc / Masters - 15 Years of experience required
  • BSc / Bachelors - 16 Years of experience required
