Your Role will focus on:
- Leading and overseeing all letter of credit (LC) operations.
- Managing team performance and stakeholder coordination.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- This role oversees all Letter of Credit related transactions in the release of LC issuance, advising Export LC and amendments, related swift messages and accounting entries.Supervises a team of LC Operations Officers, Processors, assigns instructions, ensures accurate, efficient processing of LC transactions within turnaround time, adheres to policies, procedures and controls
- Coordinates with business lines in order to obtain approvals to issue and or amend letters of credits in compliance with bench mark standards set within Trade Finance
- Coordinates with clients in the event of any ambiguous conditions / clauses stated in the application in order to complete the issuance of letters of credit and or amendment with minimum delay
- Supervises in the advice of clients on discrepant documents and towards obtaining their waiver and or rejection notice in order to expedite the settlement procedure covering import documents
- Follows up with employees on a daily basis to ensure documents are checked expeditiously and in the event of discrepancies, rejection messages are communicated to the concerned banks within the time frame allowed
- Oversees the work of processors, officers to ensure that it is carried out in compliance with all procedures and avoid any financial loss to the Bank
- Organizes and plans the work of officers, processors so that resources are optimally utilised, is maximised and ensures that the work carried out in compliance with all relevant procedures
- Performs day to day Letter of Credit operational transactional issues and ensures compliant with policies, and procedures and bank's standard under the Manager's guidance
- Assists to reply customers and correspondent bank queries and ensures complaints are addressed promptly and within service standards to achieve customer satisfaction
- Oversees the process of work to ensure time and quality standards are met in accordance with local rules and within standard turnaround time and zero error
- Prepares monthly, quarterly and yearly MIS reports and submitted to Management
- Endorses the staff training and development requirements, proposes specified development programs as well as overseeing the continues in-house staff enrichment through weekly meetings and small in-house coaching groups
Qualifications & Experience:
- University graduate in (Business, Financial Services, Accounting or Economics)
- Numerical discipline plus minimum of 4 years of experience in handling various Trade Finance Products (Funded and Non-Funded)
- Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS) / Certificate for Specialist in Demand Guarantee (CSDG). (Certification must be renewed upon completion of 3 years from the last sitting of the certification)
