Technical Design Director
About the Role:
We are recruiting for a leading developer in Dubai for a Technical Design Director to lead the design and technical delivery across residential, mixed-use, and hospitality developments. This is a senior leadership role with end-to-end responsibility for design quality, technical governance, and delivery assurance, ensuring projects meet the highest standards of innovation, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership for the technical design function, aligning design objectives with business goals.
- Lead multi-disciplinary design teams, ensuring coordination between architecture, MEP, structural, and interior design consultants.
- Oversee technical quality assurance, ensuring design compliance with regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Drive design innovation and constructability, optimizing designs for cost, efficiency, and sustainability.
- Manage consultant and contractor relationships, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality design outputs.
- Partner with project directors, executive management, and stakeholders to support decision-making and maintain technical oversight.
- Champion talent development, mentoring senior designers and technical managers to strengthen team capability.
- Monitor project design risks, provide mitigation strategies, and ensure successful design handover to construction teams.
Requirements:
- At least 10 years in senior leadership roles.
- Proven track record of high-rise, mixed-use, and luxury developments in the Middle East
- Strong technical expertise across multiple disciplines (architecture, MEP, structure, interiors).
- Experience managing large multi-disciplinary teams (50+ professionals).
- Excellent knowledge of regulatory approvals, construction standards, and design governance in the UAE and GCC.
- Demonstrated ability to interface with executive leadership and stakeholders.
- Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related discipline
