Design standard and special cables and systems compliant with internal standards and customer specifications and requirements, at optimum manufacturing costs, to support competitive tendering. Provide the technical expertise necessary to develop new products and materials, interfacing internally and externally on issues related to cable manufacture and installation. Ensure product offerings are cost effective and meet customer requirements
Policies, Processes and Procedures
- Implement all Technical Design policies, processes and procedures
Budgets and Operational Plans
- Provide inputs to the section head for the development of Technical Design budgets and work plans
Reports
- Provide Management with accurate and timely performance and design reports
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in programs for innovation and Continuous Improvement in pursuit of greater productivity
Cable Design and Customer Requirements
- Design standard and non-standard cables independently and other cables with guidance of the Lead Design Engineer to deliver the appropriate products that meet customer requirements and Ducab & International specifications
SAP System
- Timely enter Technical Designs into SAP system to enable production orders to be issued
- Make calculations on electrical and mechanical parameters to respond to customer requests and requirements
- Train new staff on cable design and SAP system in order to enable them to undertake assigned work proficiently
Cable Construction Drawings
- Produce cable construction drawings using AutoCAD in order to supply customers with cable drawings
Production schedules
- Verify and schedule the approval of production items on a weekly basis in order to commence manufacturing for the first time (not needed for repeat products)
Essential: Degree in Electrical Engineering with knowledge of AutoCAD
Desirable: Training and exposure to SAP.
Experience: More than 3 years of relevant professional experience in cable testing and design in the manufacturing industry in an ERP environment e.g. SAP
