Technical Engineering Manager (Hands-on, Product-Oriented)
Overview
We are looking for a hands-on Technical Engineering Manager to lead a cross-functional team of developers and QA engineers in a product-driven environment. This role combines deep technical ownership with people leadership and delivery accountability.
You will own the technical direction, system architecture, and delivery outcomes of your product area. This is not a purely managerial role you are expected to stay close to the code, guide complex technical decisions, and actively contribute to improving system stability, scalability, and engineering productivity.
The ideal candidate is outcome-driven, technically strong in the Microsoft ecosystem, comfortable operating in cloud environments, and proactive in applying AI-assisted development practices to improve quality and velocity.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Own and continuously evolve the product architecture and key technical decisions
- Ensure systems are stable, scalable, secure, and maintainable
- Review, guide, and challenge complex designs and implementations
- Act as the technical authority for the team and primary decision-maker on architecture and design
- Drive technical excellence while balancing pragmatism and delivery needs
Team Leadership (Development & QA)
- Lead, mentor, and support a cross-functional team of developers and QA engineers
- Foster a stable, high-performing, and collaborative team environment
- Set and enforce clear engineering standards, best practices, and quality expectations
- Support individual growth through coaching, feedback, and technical guidance
Delivery & Outcome Ownership
- Take full ownership of delivery outcomes, not just task execution
- Ensure predictable releases with a strong focus on quality and reliability
- Improve cross-team coordination and alignment with dependent engineering teams
- Act as the main technical escalation point for your product area
- Balance short-term delivery with long-term technical sustainability
AI-Driven Mindset & Modern Practices
- Apply AI-assisted development tools and techniques to improve engineering velocity and quality
- Encourage data-driven decision-making, automation, and continuous improvement
- Identify and implement opportunities to optimize engineering workflows and processes
- Promote modern engineering practices that enhance developer experience and system reliability
What We're Looking For
- Strong background in .NET / C# backend development
- Proven experience making and owning architectural and technical decisions
- Experience leading or mentoring developers and QA engineers
- Hands-on mindset with the ability to dive deep when needed
- Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and outcome focus
- Comfortable working in cloud environments (Azure required; AWS experience a plus)
- Interest in leveraging AI and automation to improve engineering effectiveness
