The Technical Interior Designer is responsible for the technical aspects of interior design projects, ensuring that designs are executed according to specifications, within budget, and on schedule. This role requires a deep understanding of architectural and interior design principles, along with technical expertise in creating detailed design documentation, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and overseeing project implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the technical development of interior design projects from concept through to completion, including detailed drawing sets, specifications, and material selection.
- Prepare and review architectural drawings, construction details, specifications, and design schedules to ensure alignment with client requirements and design intent.
- Coordinate with the design team, engineers, architects, and consultants to integrate all technical requirements into the design process.
- Ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and industry standards during design and construction phases.
- Oversee the preparation of project deliverables, such as drawings, presentations, and reports.
- Coordinate and manage the process of design reviews.
- Monitor the progress of projects, identifying potential issues early and developing solutions to keep the project on track.
- Review and approve detailed technical drawings, specifications, and material schedules.
- Ensure that all project documentation meets quality control standards and client expectations.
- Mentor junior designers and support staff, providing guidance on design techniques, technical skills, and project management.
- Foster a collaborative and positive working environment by guiding teams through the technical aspects of design.
- Incorporate sustainable design principles into the technical aspects of interior design, including energy efficiency, material selection, and eco-friendly systems.
- Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and innovative materials to incorporate cutting-edge solutions into designs.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field from a reputable university.
- Minimum of 4-7 years of experience in interior design with a strong focus on the technical and architectural aspects of design.
- Demonstrated expertise in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.), Adobe Creative Suite, and other design-related tools.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, construction processes, and project management techniques.
- Experience in commercial, residential, or hospitality design, depending on the firm's specialization.
- Expertise in drafting and creating detailed technical drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and construction details.
- Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, contractors, and architects.
- Understanding of advanced materials, finishes, lighting systems, and furniture specifications.
- Familiarity with 3D modeling software (e.g., SketchUp, 3D Studi Max) and rendering tools is preferred.
- Knowledge of the latest technologies in smart buildings, lighting, and automation systems is an advantage.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to clearly present technical information.
