General Description

The Trainer is responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving structured learning and development programs that build technical, safety, and behavioral capabilities across Action International. The role focuses on developing workforce competence through effective onboarding, skills development pathways, and continuous learning initiatives aligned with business, project, and safety objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and continuously improve structured learning and development programs aligned with business needs, project requirements, and safety standards.
  • Develop competency-based training materials and learning content using adult learning principles, covering technical, safety, and company-specific requirements.
  • Deliver engaging and effective learning sessions through classroom, on-the-job, and digital learning methods to support knowledge retention and skill application.
  • Lead and enhance onboarding and induction programs to ensure new employees reach operational competence efficiently and safely.
  • Conduct training needs analysis in collaboration with department heads and project teams to identify skills gaps and workforce development priorities.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and measure the effectiveness of learning programs using assessments, feedback, and performance indicators, and adjust learning solutions accordingly.
  • Ensure all learning activities comply with regulatory, industry, and company QHSE requirements, reinforcing a strong learning and safety culture.
  • Maintain accurate learning records, training documentation, attendance logs, and competency tracking, and prepare regular reports on development outcomes.
  • Provide ongoing learning support, coaching, and guidance to employees to address performance gaps and support continuous development.
  • Identify and implement best practices and innovative approaches in learning design, delivery, and evaluation to continuously improve L&D effectiveness.

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or similar), Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Learning & Development, training, or instructional roles, preferably within construction, engineering, or industrial environments.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, competency-based training, and workforce development.
  • Solid knowledge of construction safety standards.
  • Proven ability to design, deliver, and evaluate effective learning programs.
  • Experience with e-learning platforms, digital learning tools, or blended learning approaches is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple learning initiatives.
  • Proactive mindset with a strong commitment to continuous improvement and employee development.
