JOB PURPOSE
The Architecture Governance & Principles Expert is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and enforcing enterprise architecture principles, standards, and governance processes. The role ensures that all technology solutions align with the organization's strategic objectives, architectural frameworks, and compliance requirements. This position works closely with enterprise, solution, and technical architects, as well as business and IT stakeholders, to drive consistency, quality, and traceability across the architecture landscape.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Governance Framework & Principles
Develop, maintain, and enhance the Enterprise Architecture Principles, standards, and reference models.
Implement governance processes such as Architecture Review Boards (ARB), design reviews, and exception management.
Ensure architectural decisions are aligned with business strategy, technology strategy, and compliance standards.
Partner with enterprise architects, solution architects, project managers, and engineering teams.
Communicate architecture principles and governance rules clearly to IT and business stakeholders.
Facilitate decision-making and provide guidance on architectural trade-offs.
Provide coaching and training on architecture governance practices.
2. Architecture Compliance & Assurance
Lead architecture compliance reviews for major initiatives and solution designs.
Monitor adherence to architectural principles, patterns, and policies across projects.
Identify risks and recommend corrective actions when projects deviate from standards.
Maintain the architecture risk register and follow up on mitigation plans.
4. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate documentation of principles, policies, standards, and guideline repositories.
Produce regular governance reports, dashboards, and compliance metrics.
Document architectural decisions (ADR) and ensure proper traceability.
5. Continuous Improvement
Review and update governance processes to increase efficiency and reduce friction.
Introduce modern approaches such as lightweight governance, automation, and DevOps-friendly processes.
Evaluate new technologies and ensure their integration into principles and standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
Experience leading or participating in architecture review boards.
Years of Experience
812+ years of experience in enterprise or solution architecture.
