Job Description

Tekla Detailer / Tekla Structures Detailer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed 3D models of structural steel, miscellaneous metals, or concrete structures using Tekla Structures.
  • Prepare fabrication drawings, erection drawings, and general arrangement drawings.
  • Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs), NC/DXF files, and assembly lists for fabrication.
  • Review and interpret architectural and structural drawings, ensuring all details are accurately represented in the model.
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and fabricators to resolve design and detailing issues.
  • Apply company and industry standards, codes, and best practices in all drawings.
  • Perform clash detection and ensure constructability of models.
  • Revise drawings and models as needed based on client or engineer feedback.
  • Maintain project documentation and version control within Tekla and file management systems.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Civil / Structural Engineering, Drafting, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in steel or concrete detailing using Tekla Structures.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication and erection processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (AISC, BS, AS, etc.) depending on region/project type.
  • Proficiency in Tekla Structures, and familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills (Optional):

  • Experience with parametric modeling and custom components in Tekla.
  • Understanding of BIM workflows and model coordination.
  • Knowledge of connections design and detailing.
  • Experience collaborating with cloud-based model sharing platforms (Trimble Connect, BIM 360, etc.).

Work Environment:

  • Full-time position (onsite or hybrid).
  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams (structural engineers, project managers, fabricators).
  • Occasional overtime to meet project deadlines.
