UAE OPUS Finance Lead

JOB PURPOSE
The UAE OPUS Finance Lead ensures that the UAE market remains fully compliant with all statutory, regulatory, financial reporting, and operational Finance requirements throughout the OPUS (ERP) deployment. The role validates global design and configuration decisions against both Category Finance and Local Controllership needs, safeguarding financial accuracy, compliance, and business continuity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Validate global Finance Category design (FP&A, credit management, revenue reporting, management reporting) against UAE business, statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the key authority evaluating global fittostandard decisions for statutory, tax, controls, financial reporting, and compliance needs.
- Coordinate with UAE SMEs to ensure all Finance requirements (Category & Controllership) are captured and aligned with global design.
- Consolidate and raise statutory, reporting and Category driven localisation requests to global design teams.
- Act as the single point of contact for finance related localisation, data migration, and exception routing.
- Assess and escalate compliance driven deviations when global processes do not align with UAE obligations.
- Own system integration testing and data migration activities for Finance Category and statutory processes.
- Lead and execute local UAT for all Category Finance and Controllership scenarios, ensuring they meet UAE requirements.
- Drive issue resolution during SIT and UAT with wave and global teams.
- Provide dedicated onsite support during cutover and go live to secure a smooth transition to the new OPUS system.
- Take full ownership of hyper care for Finance, handling user queries, resolving issues, and escalating critical incidents.
- Coordinate closely with Country Finance to ensure post deployment accuracy, compliance, and stability.
- Act as the primary interface between Category Finance, the Local Finance Controller Lead, global design teams, and wave deployment teams.
- Ensure close alignment with Country Finance on statutory and reporting decisions.
Minimum Requirements
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
- Qualified accountant or equivalent experience with strong understanding of UAE statutory, tax and regulatory Finance frameworks, plus Category Finance processes (FP&A, credit management, revenue reporting, management reporting).
- Ability to assess global design vs. UAE statutory and compliance obligations and identify localisation needs.
- Experience coordinating inputs from Category Finance and other local SMEs.
- Strong analytical and documentation skills; structured communication and discipline in validation activities.
- Resilience and agility to support SIT, UAT, cutover and hypercare.
- Working knowledge of SAP and Finance ERP systems; understanding of management reporting tools (e.g., BW).
Preferred Requirements
- Experience in finance transformation, ERP deployment, or process standardisation.
- Hands-on experience supporting UAT, cutover readiness and hypercare resolution.
- Strong problem solving skills to assess statutory and reporting impacts and escalate localisation needs.
- Ability to influence and collaborate across global, wave, and local Finance teams.
- Knowledge of Unilever Finance systems or similar global ERP and reporting platforms.
