Job Purpose:
- This role ensures optimal quality and risk rating of the Commercial Credit portfolio within Wholesale Banking through timely and effective risk assessment & decision-making in line with the policy framework.
- Assess, recommend and/or approve where applicable Credit proposals in line with the credit policy of the Bank and to ensure the effective evaluation and management of counterparty risks on an ongoing basis.
- Primarily responsible for maintaining credit quality of assigned portfolio, implement timely measures to minimize NPL and cost of risk.
- To coordinate and prepare the presentation pack of various committees such as the CC, BCC, CPC and any other, as may be required.
Principal Accountabilities:
Credit Assessment
- Evaluate and approve Commercial credit proposals by analyzing customer financials, bank statements, business viability, aligning decisions with laid-down policies, procedures and risk appetite.
- Approve/Recommend breaches to the approval terms to the extent permitted by delegated authority.
- Regular visits to the clients to get first-hand independent view of the business and associated risks and undertake site visit as required.
- Ensure that Credit Risk Assessment Summary meets set credit standards, particularly with regards to the completeness and in-depth credit risk analysis.
Portfolio Monitoring
- Regularly review Commercial borrower portfolios to identify potential risks, recommending early alert accounts and curing strategies.
- Providing support on problem accounts and preparing reports for senior management or relevant committees.
- Provide timely and appropriate response to material events impacting Credit or other risk that come to the attention.
Credit Policy Management
- Develop, update, and enforce Commercial lending and Wholesale banking credit policies, templates, processes ensuring adherence to industry, legal, and regulatory standards
- Actively look for and propose way to improve existing processes, leading to greater efficiency and productivity.
- Internal Collaboration: Engage with diverse internal departments, especially with Relationship CAD, Risk, Legal, and audit team to ensure that Credit Department work is aligned with bank-wide objective.
- Team Support: Coach and support team members, facilitating skills development and aligning performance to business objectives.
Job Requirements (Qualification/Experience):
- Bachelor Degree in Commerce / Finance / Accountancy Or Bank's Qualification. Desirable MBA, CA and CFA.
- Minimum 10 - 12 years of experience in corporate credit, credit analysis/approval
- Strong analytical skills and ability to independently manage the assigned portfolio as well as run with new deals/transactions with minimal supervision.
- Good knowledge of banking products and lending practices in local market, ability to structure the deals, understanding of risk appetite and portfolio management skills.
- Sound understanding of local UAE market and industry specific dynamics.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to manage various stakeholders.
- Sound understanding of Risk management principles.
- Planning and organizing skills along with ability to solve the problem and resolves the disagreements
