Job Description

Carter Murray is partnering with a leading financial institution to appoint a Vice President Data Services, based in the UAE.

This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for defining and driving the bank's enterprise data strategy. You will oversee data architecture, analytics platforms, cloud and bigdata capabilities, and the enterprise data warehouse, ensuring the organization has highquality, secure, and trusted data to support business intelligence, MIS, predictive analytics, and regulatory reporting.

The VP will work closely with senior management, technology teams, control functions, and business stakeholders to deliver a unified data ecosystem that enables advanced analytics and selfservice reporting across the bank.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the enterprise data strategy, data architecture, and centralized data model across all business lines.
  • Design, build, and maintain the enterprise data warehouse and ensure robust data governance, scalability, and optimization.
  • Deliver advanced analytics and selfservice capabilities using modern reporting and visualization tools.
  • Oversee cloud-data and big-data platforms, ensuring alignment with best practices and evolving business needs.
  • Support regulatory reporting requirements and ensure accuracy of KPIs across product lines.
  • Manage the full application stack related to data platforms, including ETL, reporting tools, and infrastructure.
  • Guide continuous enhancement of the data model to support new systems, processes, and business requirements.
  • Partner with Compliance, Audit, and Risk to provide data-driven insights, investigations, and special reports.
  • Lead documentation, data dictionaries, and standards for data model governance and reporting processes.
  • Drive cost optimization initiatives across the data landscape and support financial analysis for senior management.
  • Oversee team leadership, capability development, and knowledge sharing across technical and nontechnical teams.
  • Support BCM and DR activities and ensure resilient data platforms and reporting environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in data management, preferably within financial services.
  • Strong expertise in data modelling, warehousing, analytics, and BI/visualization tools (SQL, DB2, Qlik, Power BI, SSRS, Business Objects, Crystal Reports, Hadoop, etc).
  • Hands-on experience with cloud and bigdata platforms (Azure, AWS preferred).
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and database design; experience with data cleansing, normalization, and wrangling.
  • Proven ability to design and maintain centralized data models supporting enterprise KPIs and regulatory reporting.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical teams.
  • Demonstrated experience leading high-performing data or analytics teams.
