Job Description

Provide overall leadership, governance, and strategic direction for EPC Engineering to ensure safe, compliant, high-quality, and cost-effective engineering delivery across all EPC projects. Accountable for engineering strategy, technical assurance, resource planning, engineering productivity, design integrity, and effective integration with Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, and Project Managementsupporting order intake, project execution excellence, and long-term capability development.

Key Responsibilities

Policies, processes & procedures:

  • Develops and oversees the implementation of department policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of finance functional activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures, and codes of conduct, including strict adherence to the Zero Tolerance to Alcohol policy at all times.

Budget/Financial

  • Prepares and recommends the department budget by preparing analysis and data related to specific elements as directed.
  • Monitors the financial performance of the section against budgets so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalised upon.

Day-to-day operations:

  • Define and execute the EPC engineering strategy aligned to company growth plans, target markets, and project portfolio (topside, hull & marine, conversions, modules, offshore EPC).
  • Establish the engineering operating model (roles, governance, stage gates, review boards, interface management) to ensure predictable project delivery.
  • Sponsor engineering transformation initiatives (digital engineering, standardization, modularization, work packaging, automation).
  • Develop, monitor and ensure compliance to all systems and processes required for execution of all engineering activities in three core departments, each managed by a dedicated Engineering Director:

Topside (incl HVAC and architectural)

Hull & Marine Engineering

Production Engineering

  • Responsibility for the review and approval of resource recruitment within each department and allocation of personnel to projects
  • Responsible for ensuring that each department provides sufficient resources to support Tender efforts.
  • Develop and maintain standardize job titles and salary structure across all engineering departments
  • Develop and maintain initiatives for the constant improvement and training of personnel
  • Responsible for ensuring that the engineering effort on projects are delivered in accordance with company and project requirements, on-time and within budget.
  • Ensure Technical Assurance and Compliance of all Engineering activities.
  • Liaise with Project Managers / Client / IVB & Class Societies as necessary for discussion on project resolution issues.
  • Responsibility for employee recruitment, training, performance evaluation, retention and termination activities.
  • Develop and manage strategic engineering delivery centres based on project requirements, including high-value engineering centres in Mumbai and co-location with Engineering partners / subcontractors in their offices
  • Develop mobility plans and process in conjunction with the people departments to standardize remote assignments.

Safety, Quality, Environment & Information Security Rules:

  • Ensuring suitable resources are available to achieve satisfactory OHS compliance of all work within their responsibility
  • Ensuring that there is a documented Risk Management process for all work within their responsibility
  • Driving continuous Safety improvement through setting, monitoring and reporting on safety performance against objectives within their department
  • Ensuring identified corrective actions assigned to their department are closed out by agreed due dates
  • Demonstrating desired behaviours and leading, encouraging and communicating on safety issues when interacting with the workforce
  • Meeting all responsibilities as outlined in the DDW OHSMS
  • Participating in any training and safety initiatives implemented by the Company
  • Complying with all Safety directives, and work instructions
  • Immediately reporting any incident or potential hazard to their supervisor or Safety Dept
  • STOP the task if you feel yourself or others may be harmed.
  • Device and implement controls to ensure no violation of ISR regulations in order to protect the company information / intellectual properties

Leadership and People Management:

  • Supervises the activities and work of subordinates by providing formal and informal feedback to ensure that all work within a specific area is carried out in an efficient manner and in accordance with set individual targets.

Change Management

  • Support the management of change through continuous improvement of departmental systems, processes and practices taking into account international best practice, changes in international standards and changes in the business environment which demand proactive action plans.

Continuous improvement

  • Stimulates subordinates and contributes to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account international best practice, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.

Reporting

  • Supervises the preparation of timely and accurate reports to meet company and department requirements, policies and standards

Related Assignments:

  • Performs other related duties or assignments as directed.

Language skills:

  • Must be fluent in English.
  • Very good knowledge in technical terms and report writing skills.
  • Knowledge of additional languages is added advantage.

  • Broad Engineering knowledge in O&G topsides facilities, offshore construction including EPC.

Education

Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical / Structural / Marine / Electrical / Instrumentation) required or master's degree in relevant field.

Experience

1825+ years in EPC/engineering delivery, with 810+ years in senior engineering leadership roles.

Proven leadership across multi-discipline engineering on large EPC/offshore/marine projects.

Strong track record in engineering governance, stakeholder management, and engineering productivity improvement.

Experience managing engineering centers (in-house + outsourced/offshore) and integrating their outputs. Experience running Engineering on EPC Mega projects ($1B +)
