A leading international drilling contractor is seeking a forward-thinking Vice President of Engineering & Maintenance to join its Executive Leadership Team. This senior strategic role reports directly to the CEO and plays a central part in defining the long-term technical direction and asset performance strategy of the organization.
The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping the engineering vision, driving asset reliability, and ensuring excellence in maintenance governance across a large, high-activity operational environment. This position requires a transformative leader with deep technical expertise, strong operational acumen, and the ability to influence executive decision-making at the highest levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and execute the organization's long-term engineering, asset integrity, and maintenance strategy.
- Advise the CEO and Board on major technical risks, asset performance insights, and strategic investment priorities.
- Lead engineering governance, technical standards, equipment lifecycle management, and reliability improvement programs.
- Drive modernization, automation, and digital transformation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Oversee major maintenance programs, fleet upgrades, capital projects, and technology deployment.
- Build and lead a high-performing engineering and maintenance organization while strengthening cross-functional alignment with Operations, HSE, and Supply Chain.
- Represent the company in high-level engagements with clients, regulators, and industry bodies on all technical matters.
Profile Requirements:
- 20+ years of progressive engineering and maintenance leadership experience in drilling or upstream energy operations.
- Proven success in executive-level technical strategy, asset management, and reliability performance improvement.
- Strong expertise in drilling equipment, rigs, major maintenance programs, and lifecycle engineering.
- Demonstrated capability leading large, geographically dispersed technical teams.
- Outstanding executive presence, communication skills, and ability to influence at CEO/Board level.
