EWEC drives the planning, forecasting, purchasing, and system despatch services of water and electricity. The Water Control Engineer is responsible for monitoring/controlling all activities over water transmission network including the pumping stations, in order to meet DISCOs and other USERs water agreed demand at the interface points, while maintaining high quality, system security, safe and economic operations in full consideration of water production quantities provided by different sources. In addition, the Water Control Engineer is responsible for maintaining the balance between water supply and demand to ensure suitable water storage at all P/S reservoirs.
Job Specific Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate implementation of the daily pumping program provided by distribution companies in order to satisfy agreed demand quantities
- Consider water production requirements and coordinate with the PCR production control engineer on related issues accordingly
- Remotely control the operation activities in the concerned P/Stations utilizing WCR available SCADA systems
- Ensure the security of water supply and manage the water storage in all pumping stations to be within the water operational range considering restrictions over the water transmission network
- Coordinate with field transmission operation staffs at all P/S regarding the security, availability, and reliability of the water transmission system
- Coordinate with all concerned parties regarding the execution of safe isolation or commissioning activity according to system safety rules
- Gather all required data from IWPP, USERs, Pumping Station and SCADA in order to issue WCR Daily Reports, such as Daily Water Target, Despatch Notice, U C Water Demand, ADDC, AADC, EWE and SEWA daily Reports and System Daily Water Balance
- Comply with relevant operational standards and procedures such as water operational procedures, water quality and water emergency plan
- Monitor and analyze KPIs such as system availability, system security and water losses to provide recommendations for EWEC and Transco related sections
- Optimise the system operation plan to meet the forecast water demand with declared availability and produce a merit order
- Follow interconnection agreements for the new connected equipment with commissioning staff considering the agreed method of statement and operational procedures
- Respond to disturbance in the transmission network in case of forced outage for desalination units or transmission trunk main equipment and act instantly according to develop situations with considering the restrictions over water transmission network
- Accurate logging of all water production and transmission events in the water logger System
- Follow up maintenance activities, ensure full coordination with authorized/competent persons and confirm application of system safety rules to give the consent
- Inform senior water control engineers in case of incidents or emergencies and share all related real time updated information
- Review the daily outage planned schedule and ensure the execution based on system safety rules
- Approve forced outages as per safety rules
- Ensure effective handover process at the end of each shift
Standard Responsibilities:
- Implement all relevant section policies, processes, and procedures so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner
- Execute the continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account international leading practice and changes in business environment and leveraging insights. This includes supporting the related change management efforts
- Ensure adherence to all health, safety, security and environment (HSSE) policies and requirements
- Adhere to EWEC values (including sustainability, integrity, collaboration and innovation)
- Contribute to the preparation of timely and accurate reports to meet the section requirements, policies and standards
Minimum Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
- Minimum of 4-6 years of extensive experience in Water System Operations
- Energy and utility sector
