Job Description

Job Purpose:

To ensure optimum operational efficiency of Food Safety X-ray machines within EKFC, and to provide specialised technical knowledge and operational support to the production and operations team.

Key Result Areas:

  • Conduct hands-on training for operators on x-ray machines to ensure effective management of parameters, sensitivity calibration, and alignment with meal menu and ingredient requirements.
  • Develop and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for x-ray machine usage to ensure consistent operations, regulatory compliance, and adherence to product-specific requirements.
  • Perform routine maintenance, servicing, adjustments, and testing of x-ray machines in line with OEM guidelines and FANR regulations to ensure optimal functionality and safety compliance.
  • Analyze calibration issues, conduct root cause investigations, and implement timely solutions to minimize production downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Adjust and program x-ray machine settings to match food density and material properties, ensuring accurate detection and error-free operation.
  • Plan and execute preventive maintenance schedules for x-ray machines and related equipment based on manufacturer recommendations and operational demands, ensuring uninterrupted availability.
  • Maintain detailed records of calibration, servicing, and maintenance activities, and raise recalibration requests as required to sustain accuracy and reliability.
  • Identify and escalate potential safety risks associated with x-ray machine operations to relevant teams, proactively mitigating hazards and ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with food safety, production, and engineering teams to prepare incident reports and liaise with local and international suppliers for technical support when necessary.
  • Prepare and share comprehensive monthly reports on machine performance, availability, utilization, and maintenance status to support operational decision-making.
  • Create SOPs and conduct maintenance for flow wrap machines, cutlery machines, crimping machines and packing machines ensuring these machines are well utilized with maximum availability to production and operations team.

Knowledge, Skills & Minimum Experience:

Education Qualification:

  • Diploma in Engineering.
  • Food Safety X Ray machines Operation and Service Certification by Ishida or equivalent.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant hands-on experience in food industry field, on X-Ray machines.
  • Extensive experience in training, maintenance, troubleshooting and operation of Food Safety X Ray machines.

  • Ability to continuously improve service standards.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.

  • Good understanding of x ray systems, foreign objects, containments and prevention processes.
  • Proven track record knowledge of root cause analysis methodology and troubleshooting.
