Job Summary:
The Accounts Receivable Accountant is responsible for managing and monitoring customer accounts to ensure accurate invoicing, timely collections, and proper recording of transactions. The role supports cash flow management, minimizes credit risk exposure, and ensures compliance with internal financial policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Issue customer invoices accurately in accordance with contracts and approved payment terms and record them in the accounting system.
- Monitor customer accounts regularly to ensure timely collections and reduce aging balances.
- Prepare aging reports, analyze receivables, and provide recommendations to finance management.
- Reconcile the accounts receivable ledger and ensure all payments and bank transfers are properly recorded.
- Coordinate with the sales department regarding credit limits, payment terms, and outstanding balances.
- Process credit notes, adjustments, and discounts in line with approved financial policies.
- Follow up on bank collections and ensure accurate posting to customer accounts.
- Support month-end and year-end closing procedures and ensure accuracy of receivable balances.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and credit risk management procedures.
- Contribute to improving collection efficiency and optimizing cash flow performance.
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing required documentation and explanations.
- Prepare financial reports related to customer accounts as requested by management.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and regulations.
- Perform any other duties related to the nature of the role as assigned by finance management to support business needs and operational continuity.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 25 years of experience in accounts receivable or a similar finance role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
- Good communication and negotiation skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
