RSSE manages and operates a diverse portfolio of sports, adventure, and leisure offerings, including water sports through Galaxea, adventure activities via Akun, and leisure experiences delivered by WAMA.

Job Purpose
The Astronomy Guide is a site-based, guest-facing role that serves as the primary point of engagement for astronomy experiences across The Red Sea destination.
This role is critical in delivering immersive, educational, and memorable stargazing and astronomy programs that combine scientific knowledge, storytelling, and cultural interpretation.
The Astronomy Guide must be personable, engaging, and highly knowledgeable, with a strong understanding of the solar system, stars, deep space objects, constellations, and the cultural history of astronomy—particularly its regional and global significance.
The role supports the day-to-day delivery of astronomy experiences, ensuring operational excellence, guest satisfaction, and alignment with RSSE standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. General Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Senior Astronomy Guide and support the smooth execution of astronomy operations.
- Assist in implementing operational procedures for astronomy tours, events, festivals, and experiences.
- Ensure astronomy equipment, structures, and assets are maintained to a high professional standard.
- Operate across multiple sites and observation locations within The Red Sea destination.
2. Experience Development Support
- Support the design and delivery of astronomy tours, stargazing experiences, and related events.
- Collaborate with cross-functional RSSE and RSG teams during operational delivery phases.
- Gain familiarity with astronomy programs, observation sites, and destination infrastructure.
- Stay updated on RSSE standards, procedures, and developments related to astronomy operations.
3. Operational Delivery & Guest Experience
- Deliver engaging and educational astronomy experiences, including stargazing, telescope viewing, and astrophotography sessions.
- Provide clear explanations of celestial objects, astronomical phenomena, and related scientific concepts.
- Incorporate cultural and historical narratives, with emphasis on Arabian astronomy and global perspectives.
- Engage with guests in a professional and interactive manner, enhancing learning and overall experience.
- Operate, set up, and maintain telescopes, binoculars, and associated equipment.
- Conduct routine checks to ensure equipment is fully functional and ready for use.
- Support the setup and operation of observation sites and astronomy installations.
- Assist in the delivery of astronomy events, festivals, and special programs.
- Adapt delivery based on environmental conditions such as weather, visibility, and lunar phases.
- Coordinate with Tour Assistants for setup and breakdown of equipment.
- Ensure observatory sites are fully prepared prior to guest arrival.
- Stay informed on current astronomy developments, discoveries, and technologies to ensure accurate and engaging content delivery.
- Communicate guest feedback, operational updates, and site conditions to senior team members.
4. Equipment & Site Support
- Support the maintenance and proper handling of telescopes, optics, and astronomy tools.
- Conduct basic equipment inspections and report any technical issues.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and readiness of observation sites and assets.
- Support inventory tracking and equipment organization where required.
5. Safety, Quality & Environmental Responsibility
- Adhere to all safety procedures, operational guidelines, and RSSE policies.
- Ensure safe guest interaction during night-time and outdoor activities.
- Promote environmental awareness and dark-sky preservation principles.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental standards.
6. Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to improving guest experience through feedback and on-ground insights.
- Support enhancements to astronomy programs, storytelling methods, and operational delivery.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, safety, and guest engagement.
Job Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Tourism, Hospitality, Astronomy, Physics, Environmental Studies, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in tourism, guest experience, or related fields (Saudi Arabia experience is an advantage).
- Demonstrated interest or background in astronomy-related activities.
- Experience using telescopes and optical astronomy equipment.
- Knowledge of astronomy concepts, tours, or educational programming is preferred.
