Purpose
To provide technical governance and execution-based bid support for Data Center EPC projects by validating designs, translating field experience into accurate estimates and plans, and guiding delivery teams through construction, testing, and commissioning.
Key Accountabilities
Design Review & Technical validation
- Lead detailed design reviews for data center EPC projects (electrical, mechanical, civil/structural).
- Validate engineering calculations, equipment sizing/selection, system configurations, and integration interfaces.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable local codes, and recognized standards/guidelines TIA-942, ASHRAE, Uptime requirements
- Identify design gaps, constructability risks, and interface issues; propose mitigation actions and technical solutions.
Bid Support – Estimation, Pricing & Resource Planning
- Provide execution-based inputs to support accurate cost estimates and competitive pricing during the bidding phase.
- Develop resource plans (manpower, equipment/tools, materials, temporary requirements) aligned to scope and execution sequence.
- Estimate labor hours, productivity rates, and crew composition for installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Review and validate BoQs from an execution perspective; identify omissions, underestimation, and scope assumptions.
- Support risk-adjusted pricing by highlighting execution challenges and recommending contingencies/allowances.
- Propose value engineering options that reduce cost/time while protecting compliance, reliability, and quality.
Execution Support & Technical Problem Solving
- Provide technical guidance to project/site teams during construction, installation, and commissioning phases.
- Review and comment on shop drawings, method statements, ITPs, and installation/commissioning procedures.
- Support resolution of RFIs, technical queries, NCRs, and design changes; ensure timely technical closure.
- Monitor technical quality and compliance via document reviews, targeted technical audits, and approvals as required.
Testing, Commissioning & Handover Readiness
- Support T&C planning, readiness checks, and integration requirements for critical systems.
- Review commissioning documentation plans, scripts, checklists, SAT/FAT requirements, cause & effect / functional testing.
Standardization & Continuous Improvement
- Support development and maintenance of standard design templates, technical specifications, and review checklists.
- Capture lessons learned from execution and feed back into estimating benchmarks, design standards, and bid assumptions.
- Promote best practices for constructability, maintainability, and quality across data center projects.
Stakeholder Coordination & Communication
- Collaborate closely with onshore Sales, Bidding, Project Managers, and contractors to align technical scope and deliverables.
- Prepare clear technical inputs, clarifications, and reports to support proposals and project decisions.
- Communicate effectively across multiple time zones and work independently in an offshore/remote environment.
Qualifications/Requirements
Knowledge and Experience
- 8 - 10 years experience in data center / mission-critical design, engineering, construction, or EPC delivery.
- 5+ years hands-on exposure in project execution (site supervision, installation management, testing & commissioning, or construction support).
- Demonstrated capability in BoQ review, estimation, resource planning, and bid support using execution benchmarks.
- Experience coordinating with multi-discipline teams Electrical, Mechanical, Civil/Structural, ELV/ICT and international contractors/vendors.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- Master's degree in engineering management, Project Management, or relevant specialization. (added advantage)
- Professional Certifications: (preferred)
- Uptime Institute: ATD (Accredited Tier Designer)
- NEBOSH IGC or equivalent
- EPI: CDCP / CDCS or equivalent
