Electrical Design Engineer
The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and validating electrical systems and components in accordance with project requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations. The role involves creating electrical schematics, selecting appropriate components, supporting installation and commissioning, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical systems, schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts
- Perform electrical calculations (load, short-circuit, voltage drop, protection coordination, etc.)
- Select electrical components and materials based on technical specifications and standards
- Prepare technical drawings, design documentation, and bills of materials (BOM)
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., IEC, NEC, IEEE, BS)
- Coordinate with mechanical, civil, and control engineers to integrate designs
- Support manufacturing, installation, testing, and commissioning activities
- Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and troubleshooting
- Liaise with clients, vendors, and contractors to clarify technical requirements
- Maintain project schedules and provide technical input during project execution
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Proven experience in electrical design engineering (typically 25+ years)
- Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, ETAP, MATLAB, or similar)
- Strong understanding of electrical principles, power distribution, and control systems
- Knowledge of relevant electrical standards and safety practices

Working Conditions
- Office-based with occasional site visits
- May require coordination with project teams and contractors
- Some travel may be required depending on project needs
