Role Overview:
The General Manager will lead the overall business operations of the company, including manufacturing, service, finance, business development, and strategic growth. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in LV/MV switchgear manufacturing, strong operational leadership, and a proven ability to scale engineering-driven businesses in the GCC.
Responsibilities:
1. Business & Operations Leadership
- Develop and execute strategic and operational plans aligned with business growth goals.
- Identify new markets, technologies, and partnership opportunities to expand market presence.
- Drive diversification into complementary sectors: power systems, automation, and maintenance services.
- Oversee project management, engineering, design, procurement, production, logistics, and service operations.
- Ensure adherence to technical standards (IEC, KAHRAMAA, QCS) and quality systems (ISO 9001/14001/45001).
- Implement and maintain strong Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) policies.
- Improve processes, workflows, and supply chain efficiency to reduce cost and enhance productivity.
2. Business Development & Client Management
- Strengthen and expand relationships with key clients: infrastructure, oil & gas, EPC/MEP contractors, government entities, and consultants.
- Lead tendering, bidding, pricing, and solution presentations for major projects.
- Identify and grow business in AMC/QMC/PPMC contracts, modernization, retrofitting, and energy-management solutions.
- Drive marketing and brand positioning strategies to increase visibility and lead generation.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and consistent service excellence.
3. Financial Management
- Full P&L ownership including budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimization.
- Ensure strong cash flow management, timely payments, and healthy vendor relationships.
- Analyze monthly financial performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Oversee pricing strategies, margin improvement, and cost-control initiatives.
4. Team Leadership & People Management
- Lead and mentor a diverse team across Engineering, Production, QA/QC, Sales, Service, Procurement, and HSE.
- Build a high-performance culture driven by accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee talent acquisition, training, performance management, and career development.
- Establish and enforce KPIs, performance metrics, and departmental scorecards.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented workplace culture.
5. Strategic Growth & Transformation
- Lead digital transformation in power management and smart solutions.
- Expand service-based revenue streams and long-term maintenance contracts.
- Drive operational excellence, organizational development, and long-term capability building.
Required Experience & Background
- 1018 years of experience in Electrical Switchgear, LV/MV Panel Manufacturing, Power Distribution, or Industrial Electrical Engineering.
- 8+ years in senior leadership roles such as GM, Operations Head, Country Manager, or Business Unit Head.
- GCC experience is mandatory; Qatar experience strongly preferred.
- Strong technical understanding of:
- LV switchboards, MCC, MDB, SMDB, DBs
- Circuit breakers (Schneider, ABB, Siemens, etc.)
- Protection systems and coordination
- Testing & commissioning
- Retrofit, power quality, maintenance services
- Proven experience managing full P&L and multi-department operations.
- Experience leading engineering, production, and service teams in a manufacturing environment.
