Job Purpose:
The Health & Safety Engineer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving health and safety standards to ensure a safe working environment, full regulatory compliance, and effective risk mitigation across all projects and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain Health & Safety policies, procedures, and standards in line with local regulations and international best practices (ISO 45001).
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE laws, regulations, and authority requirements.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; prepare detailed reports and root cause analyses with preventive recommendations.
- Monitor contractor and subcontractor HSE compliance and enforce safety requirements on-site.
- Deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and safety training programs to employees and contractors.
- Review method statements, risk assessments, and permit-to-work systems.
- Track and report HSE KPIs, statistics, and performance dashboards to management.
- Support emergency preparedness planning, drills, and response procedures.
- Promote a strong safety culture and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in Health & Safety roles, preferably within construction, infrastructure, or large-scale projects.
- Professional HSE certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or OSHA are highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of local HSE regulations and international standards (ISO 45001).
- Proven experience in site-based HSE management and contractor oversight.
