JOB PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE Summary of the main purpose of the job as the basic function and scope of the job in terms of organization, geographic areas supported, financial or other volume/size metrics, strategic impact and nature of supervision received or exercised related to the job in a descriptive manner The Helper, Structural is responsible for assisting in daily structural steel repair and fabrication activities onboard ships, rigs, and at the workshop. This role ensures all work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and the International Maritime Industries Management System (IMIMS). The Helper works closely with Structural Foremen, Fitters, and Welders to support timely and successful completion of assigned scopes
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Areas of Accountabilities (list up to 10 prime activities) (Describe concisely each principal work activity listed in logical order normally the list with include the most important duty first indicating important decision and recommendations made if applicable; start sentences with action verbs first)
Ensure all work activities comply with IMI Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) policies and IMIMS.
Receive job scope, priorities, and instructions from the Structural Foreman.
Perform support activities such as maneuvering steel plates, beams, and components; arranging tools and consumables; assisting in cutting, grinding, and welding preparation, preparation for air test of the tanks, cable and hoses arrangement, and cleaning workspaces.
Assist in lifting and positioning structural components during fitting and welding operations.
Attend daily toolbox talks, work only under valid PTWs, and always use proper PPE.
Maintain proper housekeeping onboard, including waste removal and restoring work areas to clean conditions at shift end
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Education
Preferred completion of a technical secondary school is mandatory. Professional Qualifications (Certifications & Accreditations)
Experience in structural steel repair and fabrication support. Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Knowledge of structural tools and consumables.
Ability to comply with PPE and safety standards.
Physically fit for heavy lifting and extreme conditions.
Basic understanding of work instructions and commands. great handson experience and hardworking.
Perform other related duties as per management direction. Experience
Minimum 0 - 2 years of experience in shipyard/ship repair/Offshore. Languages
