Job Description

Job Title: Junior Planning Engineer – Shipbuilding & Ship Repair

Experience: 1–3 Years

Location: UAQ/KHALIFA PORT

Department: Planning / Project Management

Reports To: Senior Planning Engineer / Planning Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Planning Engineer to support the planning and scheduling of shipbuilding and ship repair projects. The ideal candidate will have 1–3 years of relevant experience and a foundational understanding of shipyard operations, project scheduling tools, and coordination between technical and production teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing project schedules, work breakdown structures (WBS), and resource plans for shipbuilding and repair projects.
  • Support the development and updating of baseline and look-ahead schedules using planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • Monitor progress and assist in identifying project delays, critical paths, and bottlenecks.
  • Coordinate with production, procurement, engineering, and subcontractors to gather project data and update schedules accordingly.
  • Prepare and maintain progress reports, S-curves, histograms, and other planning-related documents.
  • Participate in project review meetings and assist in preparing reports for internal and client submission.
  • Ensure all planning documents and updates are accurately filed and maintained.
  • Adhere to company quality, safety, and environmental procedures and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Marine, or related fields).
  • 1–3 years of experience in a planning role within the shipbuilding or ship repair industry.
  • Familiarity with shipyard operations and project workflows.
  • Basic knowledge of planning software such as Primavera P6 and MS Project.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • ( cost control experience or certificate is preferred)
