Job Description

Job Summary:

The job holder is responsible for:

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating all client and supplier contracts assigned to her/him and ensuring alignment with internal contracting standards.
  • Administration of the ethics and compliance policies and proceduresin coordination with relevant stakeholders.
  • Administration of personal data protection policies and procedures and supporting implementation across business units.
  • General legal support to all business units and business lines on operational, commercial, and compliance-related matters.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice timely and efficiently to all business units, and proactively identify legal risks and mitigation measures.
  • Review, negotiate and conclude all contracts for all business lines and business units in accordance with company approval processes.
  • Assist with the general administrative tasks of the legal and compliance department
  • which includes the administration of the ethics and compliance program, the personal data protection program, and ensuring proper documentation and record-keeping.
  • Report regularly and timely to the head of legal/general counsel on all matters which are not in accordance with the policies and procedures of the legal and compliance department and recommend corrective actions when necessary.

Accountability:

Report to the Head of Legal (ie. General Counsel)

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Education: Recognised law degree (LLB or equivalent), admittance as a lawyer, advocate or attorney.
  • Skills: Drafting, reviewing and negotiating oil and gas service and supply contracts and/or drafting, reviewing and negotiating construction contracts (EPC). Practical hands-on knowledge will be tested in the interviews; therefore, only those capable of fulfilling this requirement should apply.
  • Attention to detail, hard-working, wanting to learn and grow and being proactive are key requirements together with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience: at least 3 years post in corporate, commercial, or oil & gas legal roles. Must be able to work with minimal oversight. Experience in the Middle East is an advantage, given the region's regulatory and contractual frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, verbal and written.
