Job Description

The Manager Feeder Procurement will serve as a strategic leader, accountable for shaping and executing Feeder procurement strategies across the Middle East region, with strong influence over strategic global and regional partnerships. This role is critical in driving long-term value creation, embedding ESG principles, leveraging supplier market intelligence, implementing cost effective and operationally superior network solutions, and enabling data-driven decision-making to support Hapag-Lloyd's 2030 Strategy. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, the Manager Feeder Procurement will lead scenario planning, influence sourcing decisions at the highest levels, and champion innovative, future-ready procurement strategies that balance cost optimization, sustainability, and operational resilience.

 

  • Category Strategy - Develop Feeder category strategies and playbooks across regions and suppliers. Provide local expertise to support global procurement strategy, tools, and methods. Maintain regular stakeholder engagement to ensure alignment and effective information flow.

     

  • Cost optimization - Achieve best-in-class total cost of ownership (TCO) through competitive pricing and low-risk contracts. Monitor key cost drivers to ensure transparency and informed decision-making.

     

  • Tendering - Plan and execute sourcing strategies, negotiations, and contract renewals. Establish rate agreements and frame contracts in alignment with cross-functional teams and regional/global requirements.

     

  • Supplier selection and supplier management - Select competitive suppliers based on cost and quality. Monitor, evaluate, and develop supplier performance, ensuring compliance with KPIs and service levels. Manage supplier risks and contracts to maximize value and ensure continuity.

     

  • Supplier Sustainability - Support and drive global sustainability initiatives in collaboration with suppliers.

     

  • Controlling and Reporting - Ensure accurate reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. Track and validate cost savings, monitor procurement performance (e.g., flow share), and ensure compliance with approval and governance processes.

     

  • Methods, processes, systems and governance - Implement procurement tools, systems, and best practices. Drive digital procurement initiatives and ensure compliance with legal and organizational standards. Manage contract escalations and supplier-related risks. 

     

  • Contract Administration - Implement contracts using global standards. Coordinate with stakeholders on deviations, ensure contract execution, and manage proper documentation and storage. Onboard suppliers in line with compliance requirements. Distribute and maintain updated rates in systems, resolving and escalating issues as needed.
Qualifications

 

  • Self-starter, high attention to detail and process oriented. Ability to react and adjust quickly to changing conditions and works well in a fast-paced environment and new challenges.

     

  • Respond positively and proactively to challenges and pressure, ensuring details are handled quickly and accurately to achieve the desired results.

  • Knowledge and experience in working within Procurement, preferably with 3rd Party Feeder suppliers within an Operations, Commercial or Trade Management environment.

     

  • Demonstrates a collaborative and empowering leadership style, fostering a growth mindset environment to drive growth and innovation. Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, able to engage with senior executives and external partners.
