MEP Design Manager - Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Design Manager
Role Overview:
To be based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with coverage across the Middle East (ME), the MEP Design Manager is responsible for leading MEP design coordination, reviewing technical deliverables, and supporting on-site supervision to ensure alignment between design intent and construction execution.
The role involves managing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating with consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver efficient, compliant, and high-quality MEP design solutions across all project phases.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
MEP Design Coordination
- Lead and manage coordination of all MEP disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and ELV where applicable).
- Ensure alignment of MEP design intent with project requirements, timelines, and budgets.
- Coordinate closely with architectural, structural, and other engineering teams.
- Conduct regular design coordination meetings and track progress across disciplines.
Drawing Review & Technical Oversight
- Review and validate MEP design drawings (HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, fire protection, ELV, shop drawings, and IFC packages).
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, local authority regulations, and international standards (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, IEC).
- Identify design clashes and ensure resolution through coordination and BIM where applicable.
- Provide value engineering solutions and ensure designs are practical and buildable.
On-Site Supervision
- Support construction teams with MEP-related technical clarifications during execution.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure MEP installation aligns with approved designs and specifications.
- Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to resolve technical and installation issues in real time.
Detailing & Documentation
- Oversee preparation and review of detailed MEP drawings and construction documentation.
- Ensure accuracy, coordination, and completeness of all MEP deliverables.
- Maintain proper documentation control, including revisions and approvals.
Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and authorities for all MEP-related matters.
- Support presentations and reporting related to MEP design progress and issues.
- Ensure timely approvals from relevant authorities and stakeholders.
- Perform any ad hoc duties as assigned by the MEP Project Director and/or Global Project Director.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related MEP discipline.
- Minimum 7–10 years of experience in MEP design and coordination within construction or engineering projects.
- Proven experience delivering projects in the Middle East (preferably Saudi Arabia).
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary project environments.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, site execution, and MEP coordination.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Strong working knowledge of Revit/BIM coordination tools (e.g., Navisworks)
- Familiarity with MEP design software (e.g., HAP, ETAP, Dialux or equivalent) is an advantage
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel) for reporting and presentations
Preferred Candidate Profile:
- Excellent command of spoken and written English
- Arabic language skills are an advantage
- Experience in large-scale construction, infrastructure, or mixed-use developments
- Strong understanding of Saudi codes, standards, and authority approval processes (e.g., Civil Defense, SEC, SBC)
- Ability to coordinate across multiple disciplines and stakeholders effectively
- Strong leadership, coordination, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
